"Cheney being the exception. But then he's a highly principled man,"

Ha! Quote of the week. But which principles?

And I didnt give up. It got warm enough to go sailing. This IS sailnet you know. Off to look at a new to us bigger boat today.

And Hillary wont be Veep. She is poison to any ticket and they know it. There is nothing she can bring that somebody else couldnt bring without the baggage.

And dont believe the polls right now. Remember, back in 92 Perot was in first place in June and Clinton was third. I suspect we are seeing McCain near his peak right around now.

As Joe Scarborough said, "Less jobs, more wars" isnt a campaign that is going to get very far off the ground.

There's alot that scares me about an Obama presidency. Two really stick out. 1) His supporters don't care about his rhetoric, his close associates (Wright, Ayers and others), his extreme far-left views, his plans for how to spend our hard earned dollar, his angry, bitter wife, and other "qualities" (read his book). They want "change," any kind of change will do. and 2) Conservatives are so fearful of some of McCain's leftward leanings, that they will stay home and pout on election day rather than do their civic duty and continue the fight against those who think we're so stupid that we can't think for ourselves.

Of course you do Sck, of course you do. You never want us to believe polls unless they are polls you post to back up a point you are trying to make.

The problem with Obama is "Change" with no reply to the "Change what, how" question.

Soon, when it gets to be a real debate he'll have to answer questions with real substantive plans, instead of a crowd of dreamers recited tired "I will fix the system" mantra's and getting away with it. I'd like to see him answer how in three short years as a senator he has racked up a total of 740 million bucks spent in earmarks, compared to John McCain with Zero dollars, ever. BTW my favorite earmark for 'change boy'? - this one:
Quote:
“But Obama's list raised questions because it includes $8 million for a defense contractor that has ties to one of his most prodigious campaign fundraisers. According to the earmark disclosure, the money was for a project overseen by General Dynamics. Obama's Illinois finance chairman, James S. Crown, serves on the company's board of directors, and his family holds a sizable stake in the firm. Crown and his wife, Paula Crown, are members of Obama's national finance committee and have raised more than $200,000 for the campaign, according to Obama's campaign Web site."
Clinton vs. Obama: Earmark wars - First Read - msnbc.com
Exactly what is it he's going to change? Oh, yeah, where the money and power goes.

My particularly favorite chuckle of the moment was/ is to offset the higher cost of gas, his plan is to give middle class families 1000 back from the payroll deduction tax most of us know as Social Security. I say most of us meaning republicans and independents, democratis know it a 'bucket of free money'.

His deal is that helps families because more than just gas prices is going up. I call it rob peter to pay paul, on credit and on steroids.

Democratic party 'let us help you' short sighted idiocy.

The problem? Social Security is already as is well known, short of money, chronically. Short term thinking like his is what caused it.

To me, it's vote pandering. he's buying votes of short sited "what's in it for me" idiots with a promise of 1k bucks.

Too offset the higher cost of gasoline, a) drive less, b) drive less, and c) quit spending money at McDonalds, Netflix, etc.. (i.e. cut back on extra's).

I was a little disappointed that McCain was willing to jump on the pandering wagon too with his gas tax holiday proposal. Sure it would be nice, but at what cost?

I'd like to see McCain take the high road. There may be some real benefits to appearing responsible after we all had to watch what the democrats did to each other.

Saildork sure isnt voting for Obama. But before you get too critical of his associates, look at your own guy - He actively sought the endorsement of Mr. Hagee who, among other things, called the Catholic church the "Great Whore" - and that aint the half of it as Youtube will confirm. Mr. McCain is also an unindicted coconspirator of Mr. Keating of the S and L scandal a while back.

Also, the repubs are going to find that screeching "Far Left , Far Left" like they do with EVERY SINGLE DEM WHO RUNS FOR ANYTHING, isnt going to get them very far this year. First, Obama isnt all that far left if you actually look at his positions and Second, you dont have to be very left to look far away from Bush and Cheney and in spite of what some of you people think, being far from those two is a very winning thing this year.

But by far his most problematical close associate is G W Bush. This isnt a good year to have fotos hugging that guy circulating. The most unpopular President ever according to Gallup.

And with that I confirm what chuck said - I freely admit to promoting polls I like and ignoring ones I dont. But on this I really do think I am right that Bush is in fact unpopular and that the presidential campaign polls of today bear little relation to whatever it is that is going to happen in Nov.

Cam, there is a very simple cure for your problem - Vote for Obama!!

And now, off to look at a boat! Looking at a new to us CS36T is a LOT more fun than trying to lead poor suffering republicans to the light. I feel your pain, I really do, but you will have to stumble around in the darkness all alone while my wife and i go have some fun!

Aloha

PS - And when I say I feel your pain, it isnt just my imagination - After all, look who our President is

I think we can agree on that, and yet it's still almost a coin toss between McCain and your guys. Speaks volumes on the choices we're stuck with.
