Thanks soulesailor,
I think Lydia was the last Robert's book I picked up and it must have been over thirty years ago. I recall Wiswell being long, but never read it. IIRC, my local library is chock-a-block with Robert's fiction and I've now a good excuse to reaquaint myself with him. Thanks again.

"A falcon Flies" by Wilbur Smith. Dr Robyn Ballantyne's journey on board a clipper to Africa, where her aim is to bring hope and healing to the fever-ridden shores, while he is a lawless trader in human cargo. The good thng about these series of books (The Ballantyne's and the Courtneys) is that they are all inter related to one another. The family story begins in England then they immigrate to Africa with branches to the Mid East. Lots of sailing, sword fighting, diamonds, ivory and lust thrown in A great read.
By the way soulesailor, you have a great quote.
