FLASH!!!

My waterfront spies have uncovered incontrovertible evidence that Camaraderie has gone off his nut and eloped on his ketch to Portugal, with the Solar Lady. The solar stick was left behind in the rush, but it's loss is deemed inconsequential as their passion burns bright enough alone.

Preliminary reports indicate that the soon to be former Mrs Camaraderie was left with a DeLorean motor car, a depleted bank account, and a large garbage bag of Cetol-impregnated rags. Legal action, for loss of conjugal relations, is contemplated against Cetol at this hour's reporting.

Mrs Camaraderie, a ravishing beauty, was approached by our waterfront spies for comment. At the time, she was busily vacuuming the DeLorean muttering, "where did all this white powder come from" over and over. When questioned about the absense of the boat, and the unmounted solar stick on the dock, she remarked that, "he always had a thing for hairy legs. And I guess that was one desire I just couldn't satisfy." This statement adds credence to the previously mentioned rumour that their destination was Portugal.

Given that our spies expect the dimly charged couple to be weeks, or weaks, at sea, we do not expect further updates for some time. On the other hand, we have established a rapport with Mrs Camaraderie and updates on her will be forth-coming. She expressed admiration for the members of sailnet, and her intense desire to meet a nice, but vindictive, lawyer who owned a sailboat. She expressed a desire for some type of fin keel boat capable of "a good turn of speed for a change". Her final comments, while changing vacuum bags were, "do you think this stuff is worth anything?" and to say hello to Surf somebody or other. She did mutter something intelligible about, "the moron" and "the wrong bank book", but our spies were unclear on the exact meaning of this.

If attention warrants it, the good folks at sailnet have expressed a willingness to hold a raffle. The grand prize will be a day sailing with Mrs Camaraderie on Lake Winnebago and all proceeds will fund a celestial navigation chair at a suitable institution to be named later. Further details as they become available.

Oh my gawd...all my secrets exposed! FWIW...Ms. Cam is more the Loreena Bobbit type than the lawyer type!

That last post was obviously a fraud, no doubt posted by Mr. Camaraderie's attorney in a blatant attempt to sway public opinion away from the hardship Mrs Camaraderie has had forced upon her. Our waterfront spies are not without resources in Portugal and, at Mrs Camaraderie's behest, we are prepared to hound the scoundrel, who fancies himself a buccaneer, to the ends of the earth or, at least, the outskirts of Lisbon depending on the resources of our financially strapped Portugese office. Given the sailing characteristics of the Tayana and a surging stock market, we may have adequate funds available to pursue the brigand further. The truly odd thing, that has baffled our spies to date, is that there was a perfectly suitable Farr alongside when the two-timer went Solar. Why he didn't take it we may never know. We'd probably have never thought of catching up to him.

Sailaway...what would someone on an itty bitty wittle lake sailor know about catching a blue water boat. I suggest you remain safe by the shores of gitchee goomie lest a bit of salt spray bring tears to your eyes and cloud your obviously impaired vision even further. In addition to a rather complete inventory of masts and sails and a finely crafted hull that caused Mr. Perry to scream "Eureka!" it should be remembered that Camaraderie also comes equipped with a magic button. Would you like a demonstration??

Oh Sailaway, first Giu and now Cam!!! I really am worried about that sense of reality. And for what it is worth, just so you know, Mrs. Camradarie went out and bought a Catalina, remniscent of the years gone by when they owned a true yacht. Like pulling into the country club in a brand new Ferrari, she is getting all the admiration and looks.

That's not too difficult to imagine CD. Particularly when the docks are full of Mac 26M's. All them blue hulls, the Catalina stands out!

CD...really..we're been accusing of loss of sense of reality..yet you say something like this...

"bought a Catalina, remniscent of the years gone by when they owned a true yacht. Like pulling into the country club in a brand new Ferrari, she is getting all the admiration and looks."

Who has lost sense of reality??? seem like you...not us...

One question for you, giu. One question:

My boat has a boom (though I do not know what it is for), does yours?

SMILE!!
