Yep..she is for sale.

Confirming what I've told a few privately, I am placing Camaraderie up for sale and we are settling down in North Carolina after cruising for nearly 6 years.
I love it here and am just tired of living aboard and making the annual treks north and south but I wouldn't trade a minute of it. It is just time to move on for a number of reasons. This does not mean I'm quitting here or quitting sailing...the plan is to get something more suitable and smaller for these shoal waters that will be good for a week or two at a time. Cape Dory, Catalina...I don't know yet. Planning on doing some RV "land sailing" first.
If you know of someone that is in the market for such a boat in ready to go condition, take a look on my BLOG and in the Galleries for a full description and PM me if interested. Note that this boat is for sale by owner for the next 30 days or so and then will be taken to Annapolis and a broker will handle it.

Always a difficult decision to make Cam - but I'm sure you two have deliberated over this for some time now. Our son is building his second house in NC, he and his new wife love it there.

I know of a couple up this way who are looking to upsize their boat to a 51 Irwin CC. Their plans call for cruising south for a few years, first hanging in the Bahamas for a while.

I will pass the info on to them -

Good Luck Cam,

Why is everybody moving to North Carolina? My daughter and her husband live there and they love it, Southern Pines area.

I've been considering the same after this last cruise, then going through Panama then up the ICW, selling the boat and buying a pig farm in NC. Still a couple years off.

Cam -- Big decision on your part, and best wishes for it all. If you do have to take the boat to Naptown, let us all know and perhaps we can arrange a Sailnet BB meeting somewhere down there.

When you are ready for the next boat, I suggest a Hunter with a roll bar. Nice looking, and a great place to install the stereo speakers.

Congratulations on reaching a fork in the road, and being able to make a decision for yourselves. Guess my comment to the Dawg on being on your dockstep got you motivated

What's the tax situation there like? I'm looking at maybe buying a slip or land where I could put one in that area of the country, as it seems pretty much halfway between north and south on the coast.

I live in Charlotte, NC and keep my P-27 on Lake Norman close to here. I have lived from Alaska to Florida growing up and North Carolina is a good mid ground. The true best of all seasons. Welcome to the Great North state. I assume you will live on or near the coast. My father lives on the mainland near Cape Lookout and it is a total different world out there. Still alot of simple folks that make their living from the sea and even have their own little accent. Good luck.
