What Is This Newsreader Crap??

Hey..will someone explain to me what the hell is this NEWSREADER thread thing, that posts the same thing over and over, sometimes 5 or 6 times....

Give me a break....I have dialup sometimes...wait 5 minutes to read that a fly broke a wing in Kuala Lumpur, or that the price of tea went up in Beijing, or madonna changed her name again....

Who's this Newsreader??? Most of the stuff I already know....

MODERATORS (yes we have two now) help

You're probably getting nuked by the thread that has the news feed. You really shouldn't be looking at that page, but at the page that is just the general interest forums.

Click on this link to get there.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

I have hi speed at home, at the hotels, and sometimes at the work places I am.

Some, due to reasons I am not going to explain, the only way to comunicate is via dial up. This is what I have now...

However..I am confused by the relationship between my boat and net speed...

By the way...I get hi-speed for free....anywhere I am...

What's in your wallet???

Newsreader isn't a user, but an automated news feed that grabs news from various RSS-feeds over the internet. I don't look at the "News Feeds" forum for that reason.

Typically when visiting the SailNet forums after being away for a while, I will click on the New Posts link at the top menu bar. As much as I have tried to block those lame Newreader posts, I can't find a way to do so. Oddly though, I only get the Massachusetts Bay NewsReader posts.

Is there a way to eliminate them when hitting New Posts? The Ignore Poster option didn't work.

TB- I generally don't use the New Posts button to check. I just load this page instead. It only has the General Interest forums, so I can keep an eye on what has updated since I last visited.

BTW, it appears that if you click on the New Posts button on that page, you only get the new posts in the General Interest forums, which means you won't see the News Feed forum posts, and nothing by News Reader will show up.

Ahh.. thanks for explaining...

By the way..the whats in your wallet was for SD...not you...

I got that from a commercial I used to hear when I was in St. Thomas...(can't remember why, but had something to do with saying what do you have or something)....my son kept repeating it...so every now and then I ask what's in your wallet to people, as a joke.

I never had much patiente for dialup anyway, but sometimes need to use it, because wireless is forbiden in some places I am.
