Wait till you see the interior. Dashew reckons that overall the running costs are about the same as their sailing boat. (Taking into account maintenance costs of course) It was a 70' yacht btw. The thing is capable of 250 - 300 mile days, cruises at 11 knots. Easily driven hull allows for relatively small and quite economical engines.

To me Nordhavns are very nice vessels but a little bit yesterday in a world of ever increasing fuel costs.

I hate to admit it, but I grew up on a Bertram 28(sorry 25 I mean) and a Penn Yan, so the dark side is not far off. Yes, no sails, but no lines, no blocks, no needle and thread, no booms, no furlers, etc, etc, etc.

Cam,

Funny! Your sense of humor really has gotten better the last few weeks. I have been quite impressed. You seem to have relaxed and are enjoying some peace and solitude. I am happy for you.

Thus, let me ask you if you have ever heard of this thing called Solar Stix? I heard they put out 100amps day. Anyone have any experience with this?

Gulfcoastbreeze is on a distinguished road
Nordhavn is marketing a (fairly ugly) motorsailer...could be a compromise for you once the chips come in.

Gulfcoast,

I know about the motorsailor. I think we chatted about it in this or another thread earlier.

I am with you... I don't like it. If you want a MS, just go buy an old Gulfstar. Giulietta is a good motorsailor too, I have heard, though it does not have a main - which even a good motorsailor has!!!
