You know, I love this place

AHHH this place is so funny. I go to some of the other forums and get bored. It is so straight and stiff (with one good exception where I leave there wondering if anyone sober even attends). We get mad and ugly. We get serious when we need to. But we sure do like to joke and have a good time. It is not like any of the others!!! Every once in a while, I glance down and am in shock at the number of visitors (and members) lurking around here. Don't you know they just come here for a laugh (and occasionally a little good information)!!!

HAHAHA!!

I'd agree... there is a good core group of sailing people here, but they're not the stuffy yatch club types, or the diehard, gotta race types (ok, maybe this describes the portagee).... Good advice, but also a playful attitude.. which is much more enjoyable than what I've seen elsewhere..

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Nice to see the modesty lessons you were supposed to be taking worked so well.

P8dawg is on a distinguished road
In total agreement.

I really enjoy the time I spend here. Since the snow is about to fall here again,in late April, If I can't be sailing, this is a great sideline.

CD, you nailed it. If it wasn't for this forum, I probably would have done something stupid like running out to Death Valley this week end instead of rolling in the mud with the dry feet no hair portagee, and waiting for a break in the weather.

I've always been amazed at the depth of information available here, and the willingness to help with a question. . . .well, maybe not sailing with genius bulldogs. I was on this site under a different handle before it was sold a few years ago, and only remember just a handfull of harsh or disrespectful comments.

Additionally, the forums mimick conditions around the ports and harbors, make friends, share laughs and information, some leave, some stay, but the experience lasts forever.

Ian-

Don't worry too much...he's on dialup right now... but he'll be in the US, where they have broadband, and then he'll be back to challenge you and Kacper... Did you see the run that Kacper made at our resident Portagee... Quite well done for a young whippersnapper...
