This just in. Chuck Schumer, Senator from NY, and fellow Dems want to spend about a half billion on registering mental patients on a Federal gun buying ban list. The head shrinkers seem to think it's a dumb idea and I am inclined to strongly agree with them. That money could be much better spent on restoring the state hospitals where we used to house the most serious of these cases. Now they're in the park downtown and, apparently, attending university.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Politically, I'm a conservative, with some paradoxical accommodations to socialized medicine and education. Your Republican and our Conservative federal political parties don't fit my definition of a conservative so much as neo-Whigs. I'll let you know if I ever find a real conservative in either country...but I doubt it.

I only appear left-wing because it's expected of Canadians...

Yeah, Aussies, Kiwis and Canucks tend to agree...having all long since outgrown the bloody poms but having quite different viewpoints from our American cousins.

Oh, and dying in disproportionate numbers on behalf of other people's wars...
