My wife found out that I'd gone sailing while the girls were at kids' camp... No sailing for me on father's day. I'm telling you all now: It does not pay to lie.

How do they always find out?

I spent a nice Father's day on the water.

My daughter worked most of the day on Father's Day and my son was down in NC. My normally heel-fearing wife actually said - "Let's go sailing", so we did, for three days.

Yesterday was relatively calm - didn't set any speed records; regardless though, we did manage to top 6 kts, in spite of the 10+ kt winds and both had a good time.

My daughter joined us back at the marina where she cooked us a fantastic sunset dinner featuring fresh pan-seared tuna steaks with one of her creative sauces and some incredible side dishes. Topped off with some special bottles of wine, a few thoughtful gifts and it was a perfect day for Dad.

Um.....
I made Mushroom, Ham, and Cheese Omlets for everybody.
Does that count?

Doesn't quite have the same effect as seared Tuna topped with special sauce.

Went out had a steak and then at 2130 (9:30 PM) called my son.
Turns out he was grousing because someone stoled his bike and forgot to call.
Had a nice chat and then grabbed a good book and read it.

I love omelets - especially with those fillings. That counts very high in my ratings book tjk.

In between college classes, my daughter is a part-time server at The Black Pearl in Newport's waterfront district. She's been at it long enough to obtain the coveted title of Pearl-Girl and has picked up lots of great recipes and cooking skills from the chefs.

She's the designated galley-wench whenever she cruises with us - and the crew always looks forward to her culinary creations.

Here's a pic of her kayaking around the marina yesterday:
