No they are not scraps from the factory. They are reef lines in case your roller furler fails.

And you think that is confusing?? On my cloth, they are red on one side and green on the other...

No matter what I do, I never managed to get the green ones on the right side, or the red on the other side.

But....if I go forward on my boat, they mysteriously change sides......

TJK - the best thing to do with the strings on your headsail is to epoxy them they so they are point straight back and level. That way, you can always be sure you have perfect sail trim and don't have to bother with the sail.

And they ask if we drink and Sailnet - (http://www.sailnet.com/forums/off-to...-dont-you.html).

Giulietta (is that Italian for Juliet?) I have been sailing for decades and these problems were never an obstacle. If the lights on the other boat seem to be wrong, that is not your problem. As to your own lights, if they have not produced a collision so far, I would suggest that in itself that is a pretty good indication that your reasoning is more dangerous than leaving well enough alone.

Please explain how one is supposed to see my call sign when I hold it up in the air. I mean sometimes they are miles away...is there some kind of high powered binocular I should get so I can see their call sign???? Help! Do you think a kite would be the answer?

I hate that arrow up there on my mast. It's useless. I thought it's supposed to tell you where to go, but every time I follow it, my boat stops.

I'm still trying to figure out that rope thing with all the pulleys that's hanging down into my cockpit. I told my girlfriend it was obviously an engine puller since it was hooked to that aluminum bar thing over my head.

It must be standard equipment on boats with engines.
