There is great wisdom in this thread. Wombat learns much.

I was asked for my call sign the other day but when I told them I was a Capricorn they got quite snooty with me.

Why when I am home and going into port is the red port and green starboard but if I go to America when going into port is the green on the port and the red on the starboard.

Hey giu, he called you a wop! If I wasn't one myself, I would be offended.

i just bought two portholes but i dont want to install them until i can find some starboard holes to match. the boat will look funny. is it possible to mount portholes on the starboard side?

Anyone know how to fix the speedometer on the compass? the other day it said 180,then i pushed the tiller a little and it went to 210 but i dont think i was going that fast.

edit: god help us if any experienced new comers look at this board.

When I push the button on my power winch and the sail goes to the top...why doesn't the winch stop automatically like my garage door opener?

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

One more thing that confuses me, reading another thread I remember this.

When I turn my wench handle on my wench clockways the drum turns clockways and the rope attached to the front sail pulls the front sail tighter, but when I turn the wench handle counter clockwise to make the rope on the front sail more looser, the drum on the wench continues to turn clockways and the front sail goes tighter instead of looser.

I don't get it.

(if you guys are done with this thread we can move on, but I thought of this while reading the winch thread)
