SEMIJim will become famous soon enough
I served three years in the United States Army. I didn't want to go, at the time, but it was either enlist and get the military school of my choice or be drafted. In retrospect: The USA did me a world of good, and I'm glad I served.

I had a chance to re-enlist in the U.S. Navy with a big bonus and either another school of choice or 1 year guaranteed station of my choice. (They liked my USA record and specialty.) I passed. I very much regret having done so, now.

Jim

Is this evolution in practice ? I seem to be turning canine in my old age. Must be evolution, couldn't possibly be intelligent design. Maybe I'm just going barking mad ?

Like the Moto GP look, or is that a Super Bike ? The Antipodean Convicts have done right good on those two wheeled monsters over the years including winning this weekends US Grand Prix and leading the World Championship.

"Defending your country is not "taking a life"

I thought I would post what someone said to me, anonymously in response to me saying "save a life instead of taking one". I won't get into the finite details of my belief system here. My comment was not directed negatively at the military, more in high regard of the coast guard. I appreciate military service and am thankful for it. The comment was geared more towards the tragedies of war and that there are options, all of which I have no desire to get into online. War sucks, for whatever reason it is happening. But I understand that sometimes it is unavoidable. It was a bottom line type of comment, and if you feel that you need to take a life in order to save one, thats one man's opinion. I won't give you a bad rep for having your own view. And just FYI, I wanted to be a military pilot straight out of HS, but my eyesight said "NO" and I didn't have the guts to hump it on foot back then.
