If you do carry a weapon and happen to go to Malaysia; be absolutely sure that you turn your weapon in when you clear in; because the law states, "unlawful possession of a fire arm - MANDETORY DEATH SENTENCE!"

They even spelled it incorrectly?

I don't have any intention of going to Malaysia, or even Australia for that matter.

With or without guns.

I've been to foreign countries with guns, and never had any problems.

Ok, well, maybe a few, but they were settled over a couple of beers...

ok... maybe not beers. May over a few rounds.... anyway....

Rick, I long for a day when just flying the Stars and Stripes will engender respect. If there are enough of us that share your realistic outlook, maybe that day will come.
Thanks.

I am licensed, in a couple of ways, to carry firearms. I won't go to another state that doesn't have reciprocal rights if I can help it. Much less a country that threatens to execute me for carrying a firearm around in my home. Malaysia probably won't miss me but I can guarantee I won't miss it.
I carried a 12 gauge Mossberg and a small caliber handgun through 6 countries during a cruise. Were I to go cruising tomorrow, I would carry weapons. Just like I carry weapons when I go to the grocery store. Or the gas station.
Or to church.
I'm not a criminal and it really bugs me that there are those who want to pass laws that make me one for being a responsible adult. I might someday be in a position to thwart a criminal. I hope to hell not, but I will be prepared should it happen. I feel that it's a responsibility.
It's part of what it means to be an American.

Wow I'm really looking forward to this Delmarva trip coming together.

I'm a NRA Home Firearm/Pistol/Self Defense Instructor, CCW, Leathal Force Institute grad, former High Power Service Rifle shooter, former IDPA and IPSC pistol shooter, reloader, collector and all round "gun nut", but in a subtle kinda' way. ;-)

Oh yeah, 10 years Army Reserve, 4 with a Basic Rifle Marksmanship Mobile Training Unit, 5 on the Division Rifle team and two as a Range Control OIC of live fire of everything from 9MM to 105MM including aerial gunnery and demolitions -- Good duty!.

I don't always carry a weapon. I can't carry one into work of course - restricted area, weapons are verboten... I'll let the Air Force Cops deal with terrorists that get through the main gates On the other hand, myself and many other civilians here are probably more well trained than most of the cops if the crap hits the fan. I don't foresee that happening here. (I'm more worried about being vaporized than shot here..... lol)

Church? I don't go there any more, too dangerous.

I'm with you. It bugs me... no it pisses me off, that there are people who would criminalize carrying a weapon - because THEY are scared and un-trusting of people. The truth is, I've stopped several crimes, in progress in my life, and never once drew a weapon, or most cases even had one on my person. And like you, I hope I NEVER need a weapon for anything other than hunting - which I rarely get to do these days (even THAT has become extremely difficult, rules, regulations, lotteries.... you name it, it's "too much of a hassle" so, as someone mentioned before, just not worth the time and effort any more).

I suspect that many of us are a bit jaded in many ways, and that in reality, the Stars and Stripes in many places does indeed, still engender some respect. No other country in the world has done so much for so many over the years - and yet we stand as a beacon of hope for people around the world.

For all the hatred aimed at us, we have to realize that for each of those hateful people, there's probably 3000 more that would want to come to the United States and live, work and become citizens.

It is seen DAILY in the sheer number of illegal immigrants this country has seen cross the borders, and the millions of them that live here. I think they all need to GO HOME where they came from myself - since they got here illegally, but the very fact they WANT to be here says something about this country, in a quiet way you'll never hear from a loud crowd.

I seriously doubt there's one person who has visited the USA who hasn't wished they could stay.

On the obverse of that coin are those who see Americans as "easy pickin's" - open for robbery, or to used to get money out of. We're viewed as "wealthy" the world over - and in many ways, even the poorest of Americans are wealthy in many ways. They have access to good medical care at no cost. All they have to do is show up to the emergency room in any hospital and they won't be turned away, even without money or insurance (and they say we have the worst health care!) Bah.

Americans are wealthy in that they can practice their religion without interference from other religious groups. They are of course hated by those who hate religion.

Americans have freedoms that no other country have - and some of them are jealous and hateful over that, and can't comprehend even what it is that makes these freedoms so important to us. (Guns for instance... the right to KEEP them, and CARRY them.... to some it's a thing to hate us for.) To us, it's what keeps us FREE.

Someday perhaps we'll be viewed with a tad more respect - but its much to easy to hate for some people. Maybe even the world will "like us better" with our new President, Obama... he claims to be a savior. Let's wait and see.

(Ok, that last paragraph was a bit much for me... /gag)

Not sure where you live, but while they won't be turned away, they will be charged up the wazoo if they have any resources whatsoever. Only the completely indigent are not charged.

This is not wealthy, but freedom—don't confuse the two.

It helps if you don't have an idiot as a President that is arrogant and believes just because we can do somethings, we should...

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

LOL !!

When we started Project MARC in some of the most remote island communities of Vanuatu in June 2000, one of the first village chiefs we met asked us where we came from. When my wife answered "America" he grabbed her hands and said in a compassionate voice "me sori too mas long yu" (I'm so sorry for you).

It turned out he had actually lived here in the USa for awhile but was only too glad to be back on his island.

Perhaps it is not entirely by coincidence that Vanuatu ranked as the happiest country in the world a few years ago, with the US ending up in 156th place......?

Have fun!

Wow. 156th! I wonder how happy the other 155 countries would be without the security benefits provided by USA and our western allies?
