You know it's bad when....

OK, fill in your own "you know it's bad when" story. Here's mine for the day...

You know it's bad when...it's a Friday evening, the winds have been blowing 12-15 all sunny day, there's a hot woman waiting for you at home, but you're stuck in a large 5-sided office building in DC, you can't leave until the morning, the TV is stuck on FOX noise, and you'd rather stick a pencil in your eye than do any acutal work (hence the post).

Well...back to my station.

You know it's bad when: You should be working, and all you are doing is responding to post from other people in the same boat.

Its bad when...you are in Indiana, instead of being in Portugal, in the boat, the holiday you interrupted to help people, knowing the wife and kids, are all by themselves in the boat, and they just called you from there to say all is fine, but they miss you very much....8 days and counting.....

Oh well...could be worse...I could be in jail, or not have a boat, or not being healthy, or some other bad thing. Thank God for what I have, like it or not. Thank you.

When the wind has been blowing all day but you can't get to the boat until tomorrow, when the wind is forecast for 2 MPH.

Thank God they can't forecast wind worth a damn.

Giu,

Where are you going after Indiana? Heading to DC or Annapolis area? I"m originally from Ohio...it's much like Indiana...nice, but not much exciting...and absolutely nothing like Europe. Hey, you could travel up to Lake Michigan...great sailing there! Sorry for you and hope you get home soon.

USCGRET1990...at least I'm not playing mine sweeper!

I know what you mean. My Father is 1000 miles away, recovering from a stroke a year ago. My good friend's son was just buried last week. And this morning my Aunt (mom's sister) had a massive heart attack that has left her in a coma. I thought about her this morning, the same time she was having her heart attack, 9:30. I knew she had bad health and was wondering about her. Kinda freaky. So now I sit here and wait. Wait to see where I am needed for help. I will be flying off the take care of my Dad while my Mom goes to see her sister. I sit here and wait, thinking how lucky I am, and what a charmed life I lead.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
