I want to be clear about this..... All corrupt politicians should be strung up from yard arms. I don't care which party they belong to.

You can call me a romantic, but I'd like to see a path back to a government "for the people...by the people".

I don't feel I'm a romantic... I think I'm a normal guy who actually read our Constitution and believes in it. If politicians violate it..hang 'em If they try and take away our rights... shoot 'em.

It's a very simple outlook, and it works for me.

Warning: Dangerous Thought Ahead.

"but I'd like to see a path back to a government "for the people...by the people". "

I'm told that as this nation started a second federal government (the first one having failed) only one in four, or one in five, Americans was actually entitled and allowed to vote. The myth of "the people" running this country is more grade-school mindwashing to made industrial-revolution factory droids think they were more than the machine parts they were being trained to be.

Now, I'm not saying it is or was fair and proper to only let white land-owning males be the fully franchised voters...but I am saying that the Founding Fathers never imagined that every idiot would be allowed a chance to decide how the country runs.

Those same folks who can't figure out how to stow their roller bags in the overhead bins of an airplane, where there's a sign saying "WHEELS FIRST" and the stews have already said the same thing, twice, on the intercom? The ones who can't figure out that red traffic lights mean STOP and green ones mean GET THE F* OUT OF THE WAY?

I don't think they should be allowed to vote. At least not without something way harder to pass than their driving license exam. Some simple questions, like "What effect will passing a bond have on your taxes?" "What are the consequences of not spending money on capital infrastructure maintenance?"

Remember, Rick, once you've hung a politician, shootin'em is just a waste of good lead. Politically incorrect, too. Stick their heads on a pike on the Capitol steps, and you build more tourist trade.

HAHAHAHAH!! huoooooo-HUooooooooo...... HAHAHAHHA!!!

Come to America. If you are an illegal immigrant, we will give you food. If you sneak in against our laws, we will give you health care. And if you are dumb enough to get a mortgage you could never afford, we will bail you out for free.

We have the money! Come on, we are here to save you from your own stupidity. National Debt?? Don't worry about it... we will just borrow some more.

THIS IS WHERE YOUR TAX DOLLARS ARE GOING.

What a freaking joke. Where else in the world can you live and get this stuff.

Really like the idea of restricting the vote to those who understand what they're voting for. Every election year it seems I see an editorial about requiring people to be able to pass a quiz on basic civics before voting. BTW when was the last time you heard the word 'civics' when it wasn't in reference to a car? Would be nice, now we just have to convince the idiots to vote away the right to vote!

I like the Pike idea, that would sure cause a pause in illegal activity..Kinda Romanesc.

Maybe we should change our current voter laws. Look where that's got us this time around... 8 years of a corrupt congress and inept administration and people on here defending them.

..Unbelievable

"8 years of a corrupt congress "
Eight? Why, the previous Republican Congress was any less corrupt? < G >

And the last fearless leader, got himself disbarred and barely ducked out of a necktie party. His crowning glory was figuring out how to beat the federal campaign contribution law limits, bringing literally billions of unrestricted dollars into his party. For which they rewarded his genius with a chance at the top office. If he hadn't figured out how to play a weasel end-run past the campaign contribution laws--he'd still be governor of a state well known for whorehouses, illegal gambling, and other star attractions. Maybe.

Sorry, Rick, you can't convince me that the game has changed in the past eight innings. Same game, different team on the field. Same fans in the bleachers.

HS,
Would it not be more reasonable that those, who run for office, could answer such questions? I mean it does not help much if the ones who vote know it but those who execute the power dont.

CD,
If you, as an illegal immigrant (not YOU personally) get a mortgage for a roof above your head, which you might not be able to pay back, I would not call you dumb. The guy who gives you the money might be. But even he can have his reason (or orders for that) to do so. So maybe we should think about why not one bank, not two, but the whole industry behaved like that?

And no, I am not an illegal immigrant,

Do I understand correctly that you are maligning the States for taking care of people who might not otherwise be able to take care of themselves?

The States ISN'T the only country that does this, but it is one of the things that makes it a nation that so many admire.

I can't get over the number of people who trash-talk their own country for the very things that make it great.
