Now I'm not sure about y'all, but thats the kind of profit I'm lookin' to MAKE on a stock. Sure beats the 2 pts I get at the local bank, eh?

I think that's at the root of many chicken littles...they have their money under the mattress.

Go for real estate. Hold on to it long term. Weather the storm. That's my long term plan.

Taxes, upkeep and capital gains (taxes again!). After that, you're home free!

I tried that.
I bought a nice lot in and expanding area.
I sold it after seven years for a BIG profit.
I sat down with the file and added up everything.
I lost like 300 bucks.
Mattress would have worked better.

What went wrong? Did you not account for capital gains, commissions, transfer taxes, revenue stamps? Where did the "BIG" profit go?

Buying costs, you know, doc stamps, taxes, title search, survey - I can't remember them all.
Intrest.
Taxes - uppity-up ya know.
Advertising.
Realter fees.

Maybe more. It has been a long time as I am old now and that was when I was young and soon to be wealthy.
