Sheesh.... a guy goes sailing only to find he's behind 20 posts and everyone wants responses. I'll catch up by this evening.

Rick, thanks for the additional kick in the pants (reminding me you live in a area where sailing is 365 a year).

Hope it was a nice day.

We see that Clinton passed laws that deregulated the banking industry. That had a direct effect on the current crisis. Ricky then posts "We all should thank Mr. Bernacke as he's shoveling cash into the problem areas and bailing out everyone in sight. We are fortunate to have him."
We know that Bernanke was a Bush appointment. And yet ricky still wants to blame Bush for the crisis. Duhhh?

The past few days have been nice for the market. We'll see if things can hold!

Been nice, bounced off support. Nearing an upper trend line, we'll see what happens when it gets there and it's close now. That'll be the real test.

The thing I don't like about this rally is that it looks like a bear market rally. Bear market rallies typically go straight up as everyone and his brother covers shorts, etc, and then you go back to selling the rally and you trend down. Bear market rallies are as sharp to the upside as Bull market dips are to the downside.

Time will always tell .. but it's always too late by then.

Edit, yahoo story worth reading ...

US Home Prices Drop 11.4 Pct in January, Worst in 20 years.

Wind,
No surprize in the 11.9% drop, it's a correction. My house went up from 358k in 2005 to 550k in 2007. Ya'll know that ain't real value. It's stupid, and based on speculators and flippers.

Totally.

I'm glad, maybe the prices will come back down to the level that some of the young folks out there in their 20's can actually buy one and .. **shock** .. have children and raise a family in it!

"Hold the Hysteria"

Robert Samuelson with a brief history lesson on recessions, depressions, and bear markets. Hardly earth-shattering news as we continue to talk ourselves into a recession.
