Tequilla

ANyone else enjoy good sipping tequila?

I have become a nice fan of Sammy's brew (Cabo Wabo). Patron is ok, but not as smooth as Cabo. I had a REALLY good tequila a while back, but can't remember the name now. I had to pull out the platinum card and get verbal verification just to buy it!! HAHA!

I know all you sailors drink koolaid and rum, just curious if anyone out there enjoys good tequila?

Sammy's is by far better than patron. Get the anejo.

But sammys is cheap for a fine sipping tequila. It goes WAYYY up from there. Many of the finer (not finest, for all you tequila enthusists) will be in the hundreds of dollars easily.

PS IF you look in his web site, he shows using salt and a lime??!?? Come on. You don't need it for his anejo. Honestly.

I over indulged on Tequila one too many times and now even the smell makes me queasy. But I'll give Sammy's a smell and see how it goes.

I ALMOST bought a bottle of Cabo Uno tonight. Writing this thread got me in the mood for some good stuff. I bought some Don Julio Anejo instead. Pretty good. Sammy's might be a tad bit better, but very comparable. Ohh, but that Uno... MMmmm. I looked all over for it and finally after not being able to find it gave up and bought Julio. THen, sitting at the glass case in the check out, there it was. Oh well. I saved a few hundred this way.

I see Santa Clause making a special early delivery!!

PS Anyone have any 4 copas? Looks good.

I do recall that Tequila produces a hangover, second to none.

About 10 years ago I was in Mexico City and I attended a party with a friend. They served a fine Tequila in a glass at room temperature. In a separate glass they served 1/2 OJ and 1/2 Tomato with Tabasco. You sipped the Tequila and then sipped the OJ/Tomato. It was very nice.

My wife is a huge tequila drinker and she has shelved Don Julio, Patron and all others in favor of Corazon. If you can get past the "I Dream of Genie" bottle, its pretty good stuff, at least according to her. I'll stick to Appleton Reserve!

Very cool. I will give that a try. You enjoy Tequila?

- CD

PS I am of he belief that it should be served b/t 70-75 deg f. Chilled or over ice takes away some of the flavor, IMHO.
