You must have missed the point that the children were not born in Canada, there being the proverbial 'no room in the inn'. (g)

Sorry, but Communism is a political system. The implementation of a socialist order. It helps to know what you're talking about, before saying someone else doesn't know what they are saying.
I would suggest you look into the reasons behind the rise of the Chinese economy, as to the efficacy of capitalism versus socialism. Further review of the ascent of capitalism in heretofor socialist societies, will show that with free markets, comes individual freedom. Comes the end of tryanny.

I did miss the point.....thanks and sorry.
That being said, I think both systems are shot full of holes. Drugs and care are way too expensive here, but once the funds dry up in Canada you have to wait until next year before you are allowed to get sick again.
As far as Cuba is concerned, if any of you have the pleasure of living in a third world nation for an extended period of time you won't paint such a rosy picture any more. I'm not talking about reading some article or seeing some pictures, go live there for awhile. Yes, it can be that bad, and yes, when the government controls every function of your live, you do live in fear.
To all the lefties who think that Castro isn't "that bad", imagine if Bush were in charge of every aspect of day to day life. You think your civil liberties are in trouble now? I think it's unusal that the so called champions of civil liberties are defending some one who strips his country of EVERY POSSIBLE civil liberty. There are alot of things wrong with the US, but compared to Cuba....please.

Go work for the Cato institute, you are spotting their blather. Or at least read something like Das Kapital so you know what you are talking about.

Why bother with your ilk. Your minds all made up. Clip your coupons and enjoy your retirement. Capitalism will not survive as we know it.
I'm all for democracy.

Hate to tell you this, but the US is not a democracy, it's a republic. While it is a form of democracy, it isn't democracy per se.

I've got bad news for you Jef......I'm not a Republican, and as such I refuse to go work for the Cato Institute. I have lived in third world nations, so I can speak from experience. You have not, and as such cannot speak from experience.
"I've lived in the EU, Carib, and Asia" Where? Denmark, St.Vincent, and Japan?
Try Kosovo, Bulgaria, DR, Haiti, and Afghanistan.....it's just not the same boss.

Nice quote! Right up there with "We will bury you!" from your fellow socialist Nikita!! ...and about as likely to come true.
