tenuki will become famous soon enough
Well, nobody who cares and actively participates in a debate should be told to just shut up, but the info was good, thanks. DiCaprio is just misguided, hopefully the ongoing debate amongst people who know will trump a sensationalist movie when our policy makers meet to decide important issues.

Yea, doesn't seem to be much interest in the fact that SS claims 100 but PS says 80.

Sorry but I get fed up with jack asses like caprio. He has all the money in the world to research this stuff but still throws BS out there in hysterical fashion advocating solutions contrary to what he claims to want. He should just shut the f up.
Stating my opinion, thank you.

When the organisation put their inflatable between the whale and the whaler, I admired them.

But they became political, and now they push the great global warming ticket.

I am wary of them now.

The issue of deforestation is not simply about global warming it's also very much about the destruction of species. We cannot simply continue removing ever more of the world's old growth forests. Plantation timber does not provide the same habitat as old growth.

The founder of greenpiece is saying that new growth forest is better than old growth. I don't think he's shilling for the paper industry.

"Berman, a veteran of the forestry protest movement, should by now have learned that young forests outperform old growth in carbon sequestration"

In terms of carbon yes. My point is that if you remove all the old growth forests or simply continue the seemingly inexorable reduction in OGF the result will be mass extinctions.

Do you think this guy would even come close to supporting that notion?
Besides, I don't think we're talking about taking out all the OGF. We're doing quite well with a self sustaining reforestation. there really aren't many true OGF's left.
If you take out some of the underbrush in the forest, you prevent fires which preserves the critters. If you cut logging roads into the forest, firefighters can get to the fires and stop them.

Caprio just wants to be an alarmist for alarmist sake. Does nobody any good, except maybe the distributors. HMMM?
