Meanwhile, I've spent less in fuel, since I'm going a constant speed... done less damage to my engine and tires, and am far less likely to get either in an accident or pulled over.
The ones I can't figure out are cars that seem to want to convoy with you or something. I will set my CC to 7 over (according to a AAA report using actual US highway statistics, at that speed you are the least likely to be in an accident) and sooner or later I seem to get a car up even with me that seems to always be where I want to be, forcing me to temporarily disengage CC or accelerate to change lanes or whatever. And the car will stay nearby for miles and miles so I figure - fine, I will go 2 mph slower for a little while and let him disappear ahead. I adject the CC down and he stays with me. OK, I will adjust it 2 mph faster than I had been going. He stays. Arrrgh!

And sit right in your blind spot or sit right next to you; door panel to door panel. I know. I hate it.

TJ, I was also surprized he stopped me, specially because I was told 10 over is OK.

The police man was very friendly and nice. Just told me to go 4 miles slower. (I guess he heard about a Portagee sailor around, and wanted to see him live (g)).

Anyway, I don't need to go fast in the US, the speed limits are so ridiculously low that I do get bored, but I am usually being driven or on sometimes I rent a car...I abide the law..

Now, where I come from, we drive a little faster...

I had an extreme example of someone doing that on one of my trips out of Missouri. Fortunately, I knew a couple of JB Hunt truckers based out of their Missouri depot, and they boxed the guy and kept him occupied for me. Apparently, he wanted to get off in St. Louis, but they kept him on the highway until somewhere in Illinois.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
