Dear, Dear Sailaway
It was really turning out to be a tough weekend.
First, it was my wifes birthday, and it started off with a trip to my inlaws which is 11/2 hours away. Nice dinner, then about half way to the boat 21/2 hours away, got a nice case of the flu. Everything I planned went to bed... after I fixed the head and then determined I could NOT fix the air conditioner.
After struggling to get the kids to bed tonight and suffering with a massive case of the chills, I turned on Sailnet to muster through more spam (thank you SD - looks loke Cam got it first... but not Spam). I could hardly put a cohesive thought together (and am struggling even as I write this). However, I open up the Gear & Maint forum, and what do I find???
100 Pages! 100 Pages! 100 Pages! The Solar - Wind Thread is 100 Pages!!!
Finally, a smile on my face. Though I am battling the worst flu in a while, I can honestly say, this is the best I have felt since joining Sailnet.
Dear, dear Sailaway. THought it might make your day too.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

The whole damn thing is a testimonial to why some people take Al Gore seriously.
The only written document that can rival it in length, incoherence, and irrelevance is the Federal Register.
It is the 7/11 for people too lazy to read any other perfectly coherent and educational threads on sailboat power generation.
It meets one of the definitions for insanity; asking the same question over and over again, expecting a different answer.
Originally, the thread was of mild interest due to Conchy Joe's inate ability to produce dementia in Dog's. Once the SPCA stepped in, that entertainment value was lost.
I defy anyone to edit the damn thing down to anything that amounts to more than two pages of useful information, although I am reluctant to use the word "pages" literally as it might imply my condoning the loss of the smallest of timber resources in the execution of that goal.
The regular posters on the pernicious weed of feeble illumination are similar in nature to drunks in the habit of taking home equally drunk fat women at closing time, only to contend while still hungover, "she had her points".
On a more personal note, CD can bite me, again.

Dog,
He admitted he is incoherent instead of trying to convince everyone that he makes sense...

CD, most people don't enjoy pain quite as much as you do. Does your Catalina have a dungeon, and is one of your many barbeques devoted to heating branding irons? Because I detect a streak of masochism....
