It doesn't matter what you sail...

I think we're all doing what we love and that's being on the water. Be it a big or small boat, expensive of cheap, custom or production. Be it whether we sail to ports unknown or stay docked at the marina or on the hook, we all love the water. I don't care what other people sail or what they do with their boat. Even power boaters are on the water becasue they like it...at least most do. There are butt hole sailors and butt hole power boaters but for the most part, there are larger percentage of good folks out there. I've been drawn to the sea since I first saw it when I was about 6. I never knew that one day I'd be learning to sail but I am and I love it as we all do in one form or the other. Even those folks who work on the sea do it not only for the money but I do think for the love of the sea. Here's a video that I think captures some of the feeling that we all must feel when were out there...in stormy seas or calm. Thought it was pretty good.

Good for you, Andy!

That's a sentiment that sometimes gets lost in the background noise of personl preferences.

Welcome

Nice post Andy. I have been thinking along the same lines lately. I put my boat up for sale a few months ago, "its too big, its too small, I don't like the shower, I don't like the nav station, it needs electronics, I want to cruise, I don't want to cruise, I want to live aboard, wait, no I don't" Get the picture???? Been pestering the members here for months about what to do but, times a wastin'!!!! Theres exploring to be done. Its time I got on the damn thing, fixed it the way I want it, and got movin'. A boat is a boat, and I just happened to buy a pretty darn good one. Time to make the best of it.

A fast boat is a oxymoron. Like jumbo shrimp, military intelligence.

It's funny how damn fast 3kts can seem heading downwind with bare poles, with the current, a stalled diesel and no steerage way. Art.
