Change careers....again?
Hey you all,
I ran my own company for 10 years prior to being mobilized and deployed in 2004. The company was lost and I had to get a real job. This was the right thing to do financially, and I'm glad I did it. But I am a serial entrepreneur, I'm afraid, and I am about to strike again! I am thinking of leaving my steady, well-paying job in the defense industry and opening another business of my own. Any sailors out there have experience with the shipping/business services industry? I am looking at the Postnet/UPS store model. With 10-15 years left in the yoke, I am looking to work hard and play hard and profit accordingly. Thoughts?
Thanks,
Freeman

No experience but I will say one thing: Do what makes you happy. The rest will take care of itself.

How many times have I driven home from work and wondered how much the guy selling roses at the stoplight makes? Too many.
And I'm almost sure that guy lives aboard a Hinckley 51.

With Fed ex and ups being directly involved with retail stores like Kinkos, it would give me pause.

Cam... Cam is that you???
Hey - I have heard that the Senior Sailnet Moderators make the big bucks. I am the junior moderator, but am hoping I can get promoted to Cam's level soon. If I could only have his job, I could afford a lifetime suply of Viagra. Unfortunately, I still have to do it the old fashioned way.
Oh well, such is the life. HEHE!

It's such a shame that you have a serious ED problem at such a young age. Hopefully, they're working on better cures for people like you.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Yes...CD...if you work hard and keep your nose to the grindstone (as opposed to the brown stone) you may some day earn the same big bucks I am making here. When I took the job, they told me not to mention my salary to you since you were just in training , but I guess they finally are letting you in on a bit of the cash. That's good...you do a nice job with the cooking thread!
Now since you can't afford a lifetime supply of Viagra just yet, I would tell you to just buy one pill at a time and save it for special occasions, like those rare windless days when you can motor away from the dock without tipping over. Just be careful and SLOWWWWW....since any wave action generated could make for an unexpected denouement to the festivities.
....and if you get bored with as you so cleverly put it..."the old fashioned way"...try the other hand for a change!
