One Hit Wonders...

... normally a term from the music business, when Bands land 1 hit and then you wonder whatever happened to them, or maybe not.

Have recently seen a similar phenomena on the forums. People getting smacked in the face so hard for some comment they made on a post or thread, for them to disappear into oblivion and never post again.

Anybody remember some more "nice" one hit blunders ?

Here's your chance to remind us.

Well, he wasn't a one-hit wonder, but I think, Chittenham or whatever his handle was holds the record for getting banned in only 9 posts..

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Don't know if CCP has officially been banned by Cam, but her caustic comments sure peed off most SailNetters.

There was Mr 30' Catalina Tall Rig looking for female crew weekdays after work (know what I mean, sport, nudge nudge wink wink).

CapeCodPhyllis
ConchyJoe/aka BVIBob etc. etc.
KnotAlouds various personalities
and that is about it as far as permanent bans for non-spammers go.
Of course many have left of their own volition after being told to behave or leave. Takes a lot to get banned. Even SurfEsq knew where to draw the line!!

I'm familiar with Conchy. And I've never heard him bitch or moan or spit on the other forums. In fact he's making an H2O maker for a friend so I figured he was a decent chap.

Maybe he got launched out of here the same day he put up an amateurish home vacation vid of his s/o and himself on S/Anarchy. They were not impressed, to say the least.............

On the surface that looks like an excellent Idea. But after much thought (six seconds worth) I realized that it won't work.
Lets say that he got two ladies to crew for him. As they sail together, he realizes that he now has twice the nagging, twice the frustrations and four times the costs in maintaining his crew (their rigging and outfits costs more then the hull). Not only that he hears double: Not tonight I have a headache etc.
Not only that!! They are flirting with the sailors on other boats. Something like the grass is greener on the other side of the fence syndrome.
So now he is ignored, double nagged, doublely frustrated and having to support the cost of rigging them out. A thong bikini for $350.00s?? I could have gone down to the Pharmarcy and have gotten three bandaids for 75 cents that would cover more.
Well it was really a good idea, until you really thought about it.
