sailhog has a spectacular aura about sailhog has a spectacular aura about
video editing

We have a Sony Handycam, and we've lost the box, along with the CD that comes with it which allows you to edit your footage. Does anyone know of an alternative method or software that would work to do this?

sailhog, it's probably DV if it's a Sony. If so it is a standard format that almost any video editing software will handle. Think of it as two problems - #1 getting the video into the computer, and #2 editing it. To get it into the computer you need a firewire connection (usually) and some capture software to get the video off of the camera. You can probably download software for your camera from the Sony support website to do that part of it. For editing you need editing software, Adobe makes it, many others do too ...

Edit, what model is your camera ?

Here is the Sony support website ...

A gross equals a dozen dozen, or 144, and the term is sometimes used as an analogy for an obscenely excessive amount.

I think Rick was making a joke - a bad one in my opinion, where you may need lots of help with your videos.

Keep in mind Giu, he's from Hollywood country (g).

iMovie....standard on every new Mac for the last few years... and one of the few "consumer" apps that have had a movie produced with it go to the big screen.

On a PC, you can get Pinnacle Micro's software and a firewire/DV capture card if your computer doesn't have built-in firewire ports.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Well done, Sir. Despite your missing sense of humor. Remember, the smiley things always dictate the true meaning and tenor of the writers actual intent...........

A lot depends on the output you desire. If you want to author DVD's, I've made some great home DVD's with the Pinnacle Studio series - when it's stable and not buggy. I think they're up to version 10 or 11 now, my last version was 9. I've also tried some of the others, like Ulead and Sony Vegas, but I cut my teeth on Studio and always come back to it.

If you're just looking to put together a web clip or something to upload to youtube, Windows Movie Maker isn't bad at all for a free program.
