Skiing this winter ???

Me for one I'm heading up to Åre, north Sweden, for a 10 day skiing trip with a couple of buddies at the end of Jan.
Any of you guys going to hit the snow this winter? Would be great to hear where you are going together with some resort info, like hotel & ski pass prices, number/km of pistes etc.

We ski Sunday River with another couple who own a condominium at Sunday River Ski Resort in Maine. The back deck of their condo fronts directly on one of the many slopes - adjacent to a ski lift.

I was walking around with potential newbie instructors yesterday in about 2" of snow. Would have prefered the lifts operating, and about 3' of snow, but what the hay, it was fun none the less!

i usually get about 50-60 days in at local area's in Wa St. Mostly at snoqualmie summit, some at stevens, a trip to crystal or two or three. i've been skiing for over 30 yrs, and teaching for 28.

ALRIGHT MARTY!!!

I love your area! I used to fly Dallas to Seattle on weekends. Snoqualmie flats on Friday night and Crystal Mountain on Saturday. Snoqualmie is a pretty cool. You see the non-pressurized airplanes flying through the pass below you. Ahhhhh . . . the Sun Bowl at Crystal . . . awsome skiing! I dropped a ski once on that 20 minute lift.

You should know DJ, you lived in SA once.

Funny as it sounds, skiing Wal-Mart parking lots behind pick-ups is actually done here when it snows or ices. Unlike Arkansas, we remove the fin from the water skis, it's more fun that way.

I remember one ice storm when I was a kid, we went out and sprayed the trees with hoses to make icecicles and then flooded the backyard to make a skating rink...of course we didn't have ice skates, so we pushed each other around on dining room chairs until mom hollered that we were going to bust our heads... she never would have gone for the skiing behind pick-ups idea.

I used to think i had it made being able to just step out my patio door and ski for hours, everyday (they call it cross coutry skiing). but hearing you guys talk about "planes flying through the pass below you" and seeing a map of a mtn. up in Main,,, gee i just might have to think about expanding my winter traveling to add skiing. Not just sailing the Carb. or Fla. Thanks for the insite.

bogdog,

If you want a BIG mtn, head to Whitler/blackcomb in BC. I seem to recall that they have about 5000 vertical feet of skiing. If you want just plain hight, ie elevation head to colorado, where you can be at 12K'. Or if you want summer skiing, my fav, is mt hood on the palmer glacier! you are at 8000-9000' with an 11K' mtn above you!

East coast mtns are ave in elevation for the west coast, and many time, below the valley floors in the rockies!. Or try Aleyeska in Jeanneau? then you ski from sea level up!
