Talking Does everyone learn the hard way?

I was wondering about the guy who first invented a rotary-wing aircraft. Do you think his prototype had a tail rotor? Or did he forget Newton's third law and on the maiden flight it lifted up and started spinning like hell?

Wink

First helicopters used two counter rotating rotors
Igor Sikorsky patented the tail rotor in 1931.
I am now at his birthplace.

Hoffa, I hear you brother, I hear you.

I guess the silver lining is that when you learn it the hard way you remember it.

Red face

What's the old saying?

A smart man learns by his mistakes. A wise man learns by others mistakes.

I guess sometimes I'm smart. Sometimes I'm wise. And sometimes I just don't get it!!LOL!!

I thought I was doing well.. always reminding myself that if someone else has done it, good or bad learn from it, google it.. youtube it, its all there!!! Only hit one rock in 2400 miles. Then I moved in with crazy landlords... I've lost all credibility.

Windmill on a sailboat? A sailboat generates wind. Rotation of the blades of a windmill generate wind as they rotate. Put the two together, possibilities?

SEMIJim will become famous soon enough
Is it not said that the lessons more hard-learned are the ones best-remembered?

Some people over-do it, tho, I suspect .

Hoff, I have learned to never stop learning, because once you take things for granted, such as losing the people close in your life, you regret the things you should have done after it's too late.

Live as if you will die today, but also live as if you will live forever. What you do or don't do, will affect the continuum of life through infinity.

Learning to appreciate the life you have is the hardest lesson.

OK - that's enough philosphy for me today.

Ah so TB is a philosopher......

I think the basic answer to Hoffas questions is yes; it really only varies in scale. From my observations, the scale is the log of the inverse of the individuals age; with a correction factor of 2Xage for any age between 12 and 23, as seen in the following graph....
