My New AIS

After much consideration, I have decided to purchase an AIS transmitter along with the reciever. I realize this is only neccessary for commercial ships, but I feel there is a safety item many boaters are missing.

The transmitter automatically sends out a signal telling everyone your Name, Course, Speed, and Navigational status.

THe last three are automatically put into the AIS. That is good. You must manually enter the ship name. I chose:

Vessel Name: SSN 775, US NUCLEAR ATTACK SUB TEXAS

So now when the commercial ships see me, they will say, "ALERT!! ALTER COURSE!! NUCLEAR SUB AHEAD!! (followed by, in reverened tones) Poor Bas**** in the Catalina does not realize a nuclear attack sub is under him. Brave soul, that is. Brave soul."

And though all of the maritine world will know me as Brave Soul, those here at Sailnet will know me as the KING OF THE HIGH SEAS, BABY!

I kinda like the ring of that too...

Umm... why does CD sound like a cruising electronics geek...

At least one part of his post is accurate... "Poor Bas**** in the Catalina"... That will always be true of CD.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Bwhahahahahaha !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now you know that must be a violation of some law, code, regulation, or license; let me know how the inspection goes after your are boarded by the CG or Navy!

CD, with that name on the AIS, I would not cruise in Iranian or North Korean territorial waters; that's just me.

I do have one serious concern here: What happens when I sail to France?? I am concerned about the mass exodus and surrenders as they storm across the border to safety - in Portugal.

I will tell them all about this safe house I know about there... and this boat...

HEHE!!

TSteele65 is on a distinguished road
Why not go all the way and designate CVN 75 AIRCRAFT CARRIER USS HARRY S. TRUMAN?

Make sure not to cruise in the middle east, though.

My solar panels are big, but not that big!! Gottya Jealous, don't I???? Tough. It is my idea. You want a name on your AIS, go get your own.

Here is one for ya:

FS Casabianca

It comes complete with mast, windows, and door. Sure to scare the crap out of the lobster pots.

ARGHHH HHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
