hey Rockter!,
You ever think about gettin' a telescope? You know, so you could kind of pick out your ewe first from a distance. If you was to do this, and you know, I hear you can look at stars and stuff too wit 'em, what would you get?

Rockter, if you want some real culture shock...there are multiple sites/groups where amateur astronomers (or anyone else) can literally rent telescope time over the internet. Operate telescopes and cameras in remote high locations, from the comfort of your home PC, using equipment you could never afford to own. PBS recently did an hour on this stuff.

Big change from requiring hermits in freezing huts located out in the boonies, huh?

You haven't asked me what scope it is.

I give you a clue... it sounds a bit like Kawasaki.

It's a Takahashi TSA 102s, a classy refractor....

http://www.astromart.com/articles/ar...article_id=543

I live in a wee village, but it will be good to go out into the forest and find a dark sky site and hunt down Neptune, in the deeper dark, in Capricorn, low to the horizon.

This scope is large, but it can be transported.

A refractor too, ideally suited to planetary viewing, and Mars is high, and in opposition Dec 24.

Rockter.

Hey Rockter! That's very pretty! I got a new Nikon D-300 for Christmas, we should hook em up!

Can you shoot photos with it? If so, be sure to post em!

I would love to get a telescope as well. Why a refractor type? I'm less familiar with them than with the schmidt-cassegrain types.

This is great!

Maybe you be around to see Asteroid 2004 MN4 as it hit Earth on Friday the 13th, 2029.

This qualifies you for a free Astronomy course at Yale University.

http://open.yale.edu/courses/astronomy/index.html

It focus on Extra-Solar Planets, Black Holes, and Dark Energy.

But, it Free!
