Anybody have a Volvo? Love it-Hate it?

It's getting to be time for a new car and I'm considering a Volvo for the comfort. I hear reports that they don't hold up past 90,000 miles, but occasionally I hear from someone who says they last forever. Experiences from this group would be greatly appreciated.

They don't sail for crap, float even worse and have terrible downwind performance.

I had a Volvo XC90 in Canada, and it changed my mind about Volvos.

I now look at them when I see one....before I just ignored them...

blt2ski will become famous soon enough
Most folks I know with them luv them, as they go and go and go......kinda like the energizer bunny!

As Alex said, if a car/truck, they do not float very well!

A guy I work with has a xc70. It has over 200,000 miles. He loves the car, very low maintenance. The seats hold up great, and are still very comfy

Volvo's are nice; but for my money the best cars from that region are SAABs.

The Ford Edge as well as the Taurus X is built on the same platform from my understanding. Test drive and you will love it as did I. A co-worker bought one and loves it also. They are a crossover.

BTW any car should do 200,000 miles easily if you keep it maintained and oil changed of course. I have an old Ford Ranger pickup, the tune-up which consisted of spsark plugs, was due at 100,000 miles. I changed the plugs myself at 100,000 miles and they were fine except for a little wear. Platinum plugs factory, so I put in double platinum, this is the "Cheap" Ranger and I drive it like I stole it. It has 173,000 miles and runs great. I'm just trying to say any car should last over 100,000 miles. It really depends on the owner.

the point that i was trying to make is his volvo is in great condition for having so many miles. Not so for my own truck '93 Ford Ranger, with i think about 350,000. Its rough and has been for years. Volvo has excellent craftsmanship.
