It been a year to minute. I couldn't tell you where the year has gone. I don't think I opened up my eyes for the first 6 months. I was afraid to look, maybe this was real. Time does not heal all wounds.

I have come to learn things over the last year. I have learned what good people sailors truly are. The acts of kindness that have been shown to myself and my family through out this year have touched me more than my words can convey. Thanks to you all.

Courtney, you are missed and remembered. You are loved and respected by more people than you ever knew.

Till we Dance again, Love Dad.

As said before Mike...Every time I look at that Picture on our mantel that I used as a back drop for the poem I wrote for Courtney I think of her and of your whole family. It will always be so.

All our love always.

The purchase price of a boat is just the admittance fee to the dance...you still have to spend money on the girl...so court one with something going for her with pleasing and desirable character traits others desire as well... or you could find yourself in a disillusioned relationship contemplating an expensive divorce.

Mike,

I had just joined Sailnet last year when I learned of and started following your remarkable family's journey with Courtney and her valiant battle with breast cancer.

I am writing to you to tell you that you, Courtney and your family have been in my thoughts and prayers during your year of first days.

When I first read the whole thread I was deeply moved by the love and ongoing support of this community to you and your family. It is truly what sailing is all about!

I can only tell you I know Courtney is now dancing on the foredeck of a full rigged sailing ship crewed by some very special ladies who all earned their place in the crew as a result of the battles they waged when they were still sailing with those of us who still sail here. They are all remembered and loved.

My continued thoughts and prayers are with you and your family on this day,

John

Courtney left a life long impression on a lot of us that unfortunately never had the opportunity to meet her in person. On clear nights I look up in the direction of the North star where her star is and my thoughts turn to her. Every once in awhile I'm rewarded with a little dance from a shooting star.
My thoughts are with you Mike.

Bubb,

I know this is a melancholy day for you and your family. But I hope you don't mind me re-posting the photo below -- it's one of my all-time favorites.

You carried her on your back. You never gave up on her.

5 days ago it was 8 bells in the morning, tonight just one, sorry it was late, but it sounded sweet & clear and on this calm night, it seemed to linger.

A prayer & a thanks to you, Courtney and your family
