Alternatives to Jimmy Buffet? What do you listen to?

I like Jimmy Buffet but he is not my favorite. Lately I have been listening to Deja View by Hanna's Reef and Thongs In The Key Of Life Volume 3 (a compilaltion CD)

What do you like?

Jim

First off I hope you replied to the Hawaiian shirt thread. Judging by your picture you should. Why I ask, if you sail a boat must you listen to Jimmy Buffet or any music like that ? I can take Buffet for no more then a song or two. But, hey it's still rock and roll to me. Personally I rather listen to the blues.

First off, please -- it's BUFFETT! Buffet is a food line.

I listen to anything and every thing from Dylan to jazz to classical. Depends on my mood.

Buffett or Knot

Some like him, I do. Some, like others that surround him, I do. There is Sunny Jim, Jim Morris and the Big Bambo Band, Jimmy Marivantano and the Parrots and many others. The others, you have to be in the following to appreciate. You may want to try to find them, they are fantastic.

Love and Luck

So far, all the 'boat music' artists I've heard were not up to JB's quality of music. Not that I've heard a lot of them but the 4 or 5 compilation CD's I have heard were uninteresting.

Quito Rymer (caribe blend, cane garden bay bvi).

Boston, Chicago, AC/DC, KISS, Journey;
Sade, Enya, Lesiem, Celtic Knots;
Spandau Ballet, Boy George, U2, Barry White;
Toby Keith, Alan Jackson, George Strait, Faith Hill;

Just a few from a few genre's - keeps my crew guessing - I like it all.
Not a Buffett song on my iPod, all of his are CD's preloaded into the player as the ONLY place I listen to him is on the boat, not Often

Lately, I've been droning out on various music that synthesizes a mix of atmospheric textures with minimal beats. Profoundly dark and enigmatic and served best chilled, but safe with most medications.

Here's the playlist from this morning:

Bonus Drone - Stephen Phillips
Shinsen - Susumu Yokota
Data Haiku - Datacide
Seefeel - Charlotte's Mouth
The Talisman - Max Corbacho
Ebb - Steve Roach
Spiritual Triptych - Steve Roach
Exile - Tuu
Alcove - Question of Trust
Anhinga - Ben Cox

If I want to dance or tap my feet, it won't be to JB's cliche' rock-a-billy tunes, but any of the many adult-alternative groups of far greater quality and intellect.
