So I'm watching the man on the street interviews on the candidates and an older black woman appears to be torn. "Do I vote for the woman or do I vote for the black man?" I also heard that Monica Lewinsky's exboyfriend's wife was counting on a ground swell from the women's vote to get her through one of the primaries, I think it was New Hampshire. This attitude seems just as repulsive to me as some redneck not voting for Clinton or Obama because they're female or black. Is it racist/sexist only when republicans or white males are doing it?

It's ignorence no matter who does it, but it shows extreme ignorence when you're judgment is based on your Color or Gender.
There was a time many years ago I would've voted for a Powell/Rice ticket or Rice/Powell ticket
Now I await a Nugent/Miller ticket

Close but I'm thinking Ted Nugent and Dennis Miller
If ya think about it, Nugent would march right into Pakistan, take out OBL, and Miller would have Ahmadinejad so confused, he'd actually think it was his idea

It's scary, how many people vote, not on a person's record or views, but on something such as appearance, gender, race, etc. And that's not to mention those who vote for the slogan over the deed, ie: change or unity, without a word about how they will be achieved.

pdp,
are you talking about this guy, if so what kind of show would he do with Nugent?
Yes Sir Robby, but I wasn't talking a TV show, nor was I being serious about a Nugent/Miller White House ticket, but at this point and time, ( considering the clowns running now ) they would be the two best canidates if they were running
A Nationalist and a Conservative, ...........a dream ticket

I guess that's the silver lining in low voter turn-out is that at least there are fewer un-informed voters. It's just shocking to me that people openly admit that they are going to vote for someone based on the person's race or sex. Maybe the difference that makes it socially acceptable still is that they are voting for someone because of their race instead of against someone because of their race. A subtle difference that still smells of racism to me.

Ah, but it's only an "ism" if you vote against someone, not if you vote for them. At least in the eyes of our "objective" media, who for some strange reason, get to tell us what someone means, rather than what they say.

I honestly would not have a problem voting for a female president. Just not THAT female. Likewise a black guy. I actually think a negro president would help heal some scars in the US that are long overdue to be healed. Just not THAT negro. My own feeling is that Obama needs more experience in politics. So my problem with Obama ( other than the fact that he's a democrat, of course) actually IS based upon color, come to think of it. But its not because he's too black. It's because he's still too green.
