MLK Day

As all Americans honor Martin Luther King on his day... I thought I'd share a column on him that goes beyond the usual simple tribute and gives some insight into the man and his times. RIP.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

If anyone is interested, you can get the "I Have A Dream" speech as an MP3 file here.

Whew, thanks for pointing that out. I actually feel a lot better about sneaking away from a power boat forum to visit here, now. I was worried that all you blow-boaters were Ted Kennedy clones.

And now I can stop searching the internet for a stack of water-soluble Kerry stickers in case I get a catamaran.

Gringos... You can count on me to support your free market choice of a sailboat.

Actually I think us conservatives get a bad rap on race. There's really a BIG difference in our views from Dems on the cures for inequality... but that doesn't mean we don't wish for full equality and and end to all racism. I actually believe the Dems solutions have since LBJ stood in the way of progress for blacks in this country, creating dependence, blame and a deterioration of family life and failed schools...and our open borders policies have kept black wages down proportionally more than white wages. I wish the Reps would make more of an effort to tell those stories and provide alternative solutions within the black community.

Just food for thought - and I'm sure gonna hunker down waiting for the reply, but why do 43 Presidents have to share 1 day (that many don't even celebrate) and MLK gets his own national holiday???? Poor old Columbus barely get recognition anymore!

Why do we not impliment a "GREAT AMERICANS DAY" to cover all of those that have made this country what it is. School school kids could change which "Great American" they learned about from year to year, and many more could be added to the list as time goes on without distracting from anyone, or over looking any others.
