TV drama about the Canadian Coast Guard begins tonight

The reviews are calling it a soapy, over-acted melodrama, but for those of you able to receive Canada Canwest/Global TV network, there's a new drama series starting tonight called "The Guard" (10 PM EST):

http://www.canada.com/globaltv/globa...ard/index.html

This is no way an endorsement, but I'll give it a chance, just because it is pretty rare to find a TV show that parallels my real-life interests this closely

BTW the AFOC in me wants to know - why sort of? Is it for sale if you get to drunk to know you sold it for a $1 or its for sale to the first person that brings Britnney Spears onboard?

We may watch it tonight... but mostly because it's filmed entirely in Squamish BC, where we lived for some 20+ years. It's always neat to watch for familiar scenery.

Funny - we were talking to people the other day that had recently visited Squamish for the first time in a while. They were describing property "right across from the Coast Guard station"... but we knew there was no such station there. What they were referring to was the set and props for this show, which they started shooting last spring.

The trailers look alright, but we'll see how it lasts.

If the timing is right for me to buy our next boat at the same point that someone says they're interested in buying Pelican for the price I listed, then I'll sell her. Otherwise, we're keeping her for the '08 season, bringing her down to Annapolis and putting her completely up for sale. Bringing Britney Spears on board will just raise the price.
