Kid from hell is hurt...damn it..

Unfortunaltely, just a few minutes ago, my dear son Luis fell off the last steps of our stairs to the garage, hit his head on the metal firedoor, and as a consequence is now in the Hospital with Giulietta doing X rays and all other checks. luckily several docs in the family.

I tried to call my wife several times, but in the Hospital she can't get network.....on one occasion I managed to talk to her...couldn't hear very well but she said he was ok, so far, but didn't sound happy...you know women...

she said that the door imprint is in his head, and created a depression with the shape of the corner in his skul, but no cut to his skin.

He seems normal she said, but we never know.

Therefore, the fact I am away, the lack of news, the fact I can't get to my wife via phone, and the fact that it is after all my never stop, allways moving hell kid...has me really worried and hoping the best.

Sorry but I have no real friends here and needed to vent this crap out.

Fred had races today, don't know about that either...pissed off I am...

Here is the child from hell...Fred was so much peacefull.

Hang tight G. We will send good thoughts his way. I hope that all is well.

I'm very sorry and concerned to hear about this, Alex. Luis is a real character, as we say: he's got a big personality for a little fellow, but he does seem to court disaster. Considering all the scientific and engineering talent in his family, you'd think he have a better grasp on gravity!

If it's any consolation, at age 2 I climbed out of my crib and sliced my arm open on a flange falling to the ground (six stitches); my son fell down the basement stairs (steep angle) TWICE in the same month when he was three...and my wife has some scars I don't even want to discuss here in case some people are prone to fainting...

Luis is a tough little boy...I'm sure he'll be fine. If he wasn't knocked out and was bitching and complaining in baby Portuguese, he is unlikely to have sustained damage to more than his dignity.

Please give my best wishes to Giulietta: this must be hard for her to handle little crises like this when you are away.

She doesn't answer the phone damn it.....

I spend fortunes in phones and crap so we can talk whle I am away, and right now, when I need most, her phone is "off service"...do hospitals have those things that cancel phone broadcast?

Does that exist?

Sometimes there is so much interference in hospitals with all the electronics and thick walls for x-rays etc, that phones will not work. Pretty common. I wouldn't even know how to begin to tell you to call the emergency room over there.

Yes, they do, because cell phones of any type can potentially affect diagnostic monitors, MRI machines and other equipment. Some hospitals here are now using a wireless radio system instead of an intercom...it looks remarkably like the "badge communicators" from Star Trek...and the hospitals will suppress all frequencies except those specific devices.

Call me at home if you want to talk.

Ah Marc,

Thanks for the information, I am thinking all kinds of things you know...

Like she is not answering so I don't get worried or so she doesn't have to tell me bad news or something....

I called my Mum, brother, sister (the secret police one), ridiculous but true, MIL, FIL, I even called the guy that looks after my boat, because he is in cascais, near the Hospital, and is on his way..

They are "investigating"..right now...

If there is only one hospital in Cascais, this is the number:

Cascais Hospital: 21 482 77 00

I don't know if this the "new hospital" number, because I can't figure out if that hospital has opened yet.

Here's the number of the "international" clinic, if they would be there:

Clinica Medica Internacional de Cascais

Tel: 214 845 317

Fax: 214 832 506

Rua do Regimento XIX, 67-2

Largo Luis de Camoes

Cascais

Boa sorte!

Don't worry Alex...phones get turned off in hospitals...kids do stuff like this all the time...a dent...maybe a small concussion...but they are resilient and bounce back quicker than their parents. All will be well. If anything was really wrong Giulietta would go outside and call you.
