Movie locations for "Double Jeopardy"

We watched an older movie on the tube last night, "Double Jeopardy". Quite a bit of the story is supposed to take place down here on Whidbey Island but it looks more like Vancouver area. The wife and I were trying to guess where some of the ferry scenes were shot and guess it might be the Earl Cove Ferry but we weren't sure as we only go by there now and then on our way up to Princess Louisa. Anyone know where those scenes were shot?

Jody's got it covered, I'd guess, but I do know the ferry scenes were filmed in Howe Sound, with the ferry being an out-of-use small BC ferry similar to that used for the Woodfibre mill site until its recent closure. The water scenes and "escape" from the submerged car were done at and across from Porteau Cove Marine Park which has an emergency ferry terminal. The beach where Ashley swam ashore is a place known as "5 Coves" or "Zorro Bay", also in Howe Sound.

Good movie, better book, nice scenery.

Bykerbabe is on a distinguished road
The ferry scene was filmed South of Revvenelstoke-either Galena Bay or Shelter Bay (I can't recall which is which as I had only been on them twice). It is a BC ferries route though-so correct on. That aspect

Similar ferries but not on the Arrow lakes..

Those scenes were at Porteau Cove and what is locally known as 'Five Coves" (where she crawled out of the water).. both in Howe Sound.

Movies can be disorienting when they are filmed in areas you know well. For the locals here - I've seen a car chase start at Lougheed Mall, shortly thereafter run East along Spanish Bank then turn a corner and be on Central Lonsdale.

In another one there was a foot chase that went into an underground tunnel near the 2nd Narrows grain elevators, ran a couple of hundred yards through a dripping, dark tunnel and then pop up above ground in New Westminster.

Usually I have to watch that kind of movie a couple of times - once to figure out the locations and once to watch the movie.

For the non-locals, each of the locations I mentioned are at least 10 - 15 miles apart and all in completely different municipalities.

I'm a CSI Miami fan. Once they were chasing a guy through a marina in Miami and you could tell it was Miami with the aerial chase shots. When they jumped out of the car and arrested him, it was right near my boat in Marina del Rey, California. I doubt if anyone else noticed.

As for Double Jeopardy, great flick. I only wish that the forward cabin scene had happened on my boat.

Mike
