It was OK for a kennedy to wiretap MLK without a warrant. It was OK for clinton to wiretap, burgle, intercept the mail of a US citizen. Now it's OK for spitzer to take dna from everyone arrested. But it's not OK to intercept phone messages from foreign calls of known terrorists. Why? Because they weren't in charge of the program.

I can go along with testing convicted felons, but until you're convicted you're supposed to be presumed innocent. Is that the line that's being crossed for you other fellows or should there be no DNA database at all?

This idea was proposed in the U.K. last year by a judge I believe. He wanted it because there were so many charged with criminal offenses (many later found innocent) from certain minorities, who had to give DNA sample, that it made the UK look biased (his opinion, not mine).
"The present database in England and Wales holds details of 4m people who are guilty or cleared of a crime."
"Lord Justice Sedley said this was indefensible and biased against ethnic minorities, and it would be fairer to include everyone, guilty or innocent."
"He said the only option was to expand the database to cover the whole population and all those who visited the UK, even for a weekend."
"Figures compiled from Home Office statistics and census data show almost 40% of black men have their DNA profile on the database. That compares with 13% of Asian men and 9% of white men."
