Capitalism-I'm fer it!

Being laid low with the flu, my wife has shown some heretofore well concealed domestic skills that may, upon their most optimistic interpretation, indicate she wants to keep me alive a bit longer. In short; she made me dinner!

The good old Dutch heart having withstood the shock of the event's occurence, I set-to with a vengence and gratitude in my heart. In this spirit, I took pause to note that part of my dinner consisted of fresh corn on the cob. Fresh corn, in Michigan, in February. What's wrong with this picture?

Stop. I don't pretend it was the best ever or any of a million litany's you corn afficianado's will claim. It was corn, it tasted good, and it was fresh.

How does that happen?

Here's the funny thing. I know that there is a better than even chance that the single largest expense in turning a kernal of corn into the food on my table was probably the trucking it took to haul 25 tons of it to Michigan. Anotherwords, the fuel and the driver added more cost to the price of each ear of corn than the entire cost of production and subsequent marketing!

I don't know how capitalism works, other than theory, and anybody who says they do is either a liar or selling something, in my opinion. What I am amazed at is that somebody decided, some time ago now, that they could sell fresh corn in Michigan in February. How many, What are you, Nut's?, do you think these guy's had to hear? And their initial investors were no doubt less than mollified by the words, We're going to ship a whole bunch of it. In any event, it all worked out and it's now common place.

My wife buys six ears of corn for ONE US DOLLAR, it was on clearance of all things, and I'm eating fresh corn in a snowstorm! I don't know how to define capitalism, but I know it when I see it. (to paraphrase an old Supreme Court justice on another matter) What a system!

It was probably that hyper-engineered feed corn that has absolutely no nutritional value whatsoever. Even less than regular corn. Did she make a trip out to the barn before she made dinner? Oh, and hope you feel better.

No signs of Tayana ownership, otherwise known as penile granduer, have appeared as yet, Cam. (g)

What a bunch of commie's. Two day's ago I take it in the rear from Raymarine, end up on my death bed, my normally oblivious to pain (my pain) wife nurses me back to health, and I'm able to revel in the joys of capitalism all over a single ear of corn. And what do I get from my closest assosciates and confidants? Mockery! That's it. If I start posting long threads on decorating the V-berth is pleasing pastel shades with provisions for fern hanging, it'll be on your heads. You guys are driving me to a walk on the wild side. How do I get a pink signature?

Sail...obvious that when eating the ear of corn that you were only reveling in the fact you can eat a solid food that will assist you in producing more than your Methane credit allows. Furthermore, pastels are so 1990's, today's designer colors are iridescent and or take on the properties of common leathers, tile, etc...But should you go that way due to seemingly being knocked off your path....

You must also practice capitalism in the only manner that works:

Sample:

"IN THE FORWARD BIRTH I REGURGITATED MARTHA STEWARTS TEACHINGS AND HAVE DECIDED THAT IT IS NO LONGER ACCEPTABLE TO HAVE THE BASIC NAVAL COLORS ONBOARD AS THEY TAKE THE MEANING OF HOME AWAY FROM HOME. "

You'll make both a personal designer statement as well as solidify your political views...

Apparently, this will be happening a lot this winter, since the medical industry screwed up and the current year's flu vaccine doesn't match well with the current crop of flu virii out in the world.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Capitalism

The point was capitalism, you asses. If I wanted to talk about corn in my turds or the flu-vaccine, neither of which I'm equipped to either find out or acquire, I'd have said so. I swear to god I've got the wrong calender and I can't see through the cloud cover, but it's got to be a full moon tonight. Go back to the J/24 thread or come up with a better name for Lego Pollard.
