Captain Paul...

One of the invaluable aspects of this forum is the access that it gives mariners like myself (with a mere 16 months of boat ownership under my belt) to people like CardiacPaul. Yesterday I sent him a PM with specific question about my C30 that required a thoughtful reply from someone who has seen and studied a lot of boats. Half an hour later, that's exactly what I got -- and it was funnier than hell. Anyone who has followed CP's posts might come away with the idea that he's a grumpy young guy with a faulty ticker. He might be grumpy, but he's got a heart of gold and he really knows his ---t. He's like an M&M -- hard on the outside, and all soft on the inside. He's a truly good man, a mensch, and I look forward to meeting him one day. Best to you, Paul!

CP is a good egg... I wouldn't call him a young guy though... and I'd say he's more like a Peanut M&M... since he's definitely a nut on the inside.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Why does this thread remind me of Monty Python's "Oscar Wilde" sketch?

"His Highness is like a stream of bat's piss!"

"Whaaaatttt???"

"He shines out like a shaft of gold when all about is dark."
