What is that? 17 Celsius? Phhfft. Shorts and a light sweater. I don't even wear socks until it's below 15 C (60 F).
Last night when I was looking at the lunar eclipse, it was -13 C (8 F) here. I had a T-shirt, a fleece and a Goretex shell, jeans and running shoes. I did have thick socks, heavy gloves and a Thininsulate toque, but hey, that's Canadian logic: keep the head, hands and feet warm, and the kilt will suffice for the rest.
Alex was dressed the same way I dress for launch, when it's about 4 C (39 F) in the morning when I get aboard the workboat. I guess it's all what you are used to.
This is the yearly weather for Lisbon...I can't see Cascais being much different...and Toronto, at six degrees of latitude farther north, is both colder (naturally)
and hotter. That surprised me.

I suspect northern Portugal is like what the British would love Britain to be like, wet enough to make the gardening work, but sunny enough to avoid depressing British drizzle.
