Let me on a little story I have never told before...
One day, in one of my trips to the US, I arrived at my work place and as ususal I have to sit thru a "safety" video, that really if I were American I would be very offended if they showed me that, such is the basic knoweldge and the priciple that people are naturally stupid...anyway...
After the safety video, made for morons, by morons, I was taken to a room, where a HR staff diligentely made me read out loud and sign, a Company's "code of Ethics and behaviour" document that simply said:
No racist remarks
No religious remarks
No sexual content remarks
No sports remarks
No ethnic remarks
No stealing
No drinking alchool
No drugs
No guns
No this
No that...
I looked at the lady in the eyes, and asked her, why would she think I would do any of that? I was there to fix their problem, not discuss OJ Simpsons trial....
She said its corporate policy, because the company lost money every time an employee made a complaint about another one...bla bla bla...
So I asked her...do you kn ow that in my country, making me read and abide by such a document is in it self a reason for me to complain about the company??
she was surprized that their "clean policy" was in fact a violation of common european rules, if it was given to someone visiting one of our plants....
We both knew that I was going to obey, as requested, becuse in "Rome, do like the Romans"...and because I am a visitor, being paid by them is beyhond the point.
But so that you see, that to me the simple fact I had to be told what to do and behave is seen as a violation of my own rights....
