Yes, this was our Governor who was going to bring ethics back to Albany. As I understand the details he was caught by wire tap arranging to bring a girl with him on a trip D.C. where he was speaking before Congress. When Chuck Schumer heard about he immediately called Spritzer and chastised him for coming to town without gifts. Our noted JR. Senator is running around the county whining that she was once again excluded from the boy's club.

His prior statements in the execution of his duties as Attorney General in the prosecution of prostitution rings will make for interesting reading.

Remember dear reader, it's just about sex. At least that was the Clinton defense.

Further interesting reading will no doubt come to light on how Attorney Spitzer railed against the excesses of those corporations he ruthlessly pursued. Excesses like, well, sex paid for by the company. I suppose it's different when it's the tax-payers of NY who are buying the room.

Remember, it's only about sex. It has nothing to do with trust. It is purely a private matter. It is unreasonable to expect politicians or attorney's general to adhere to the same laws as the rest of us. He should've lied about it. What's the worst that could happen?

Many of us wondered how he got the gubernatotial nomination, the man was good at "sic 'em boy" but really had some lack of imagination and social skills to many of us.
He just wasn't and isn't a REAL politician. Best exemplified by this old joke, told here in short form:


The chief of police in West Podunk sets out at 6:30 Sunday morning with the whole PD assisting him, to bust the local whorehouse, which hasn't made their payoff recently.

As the squad bursts into the first bedroom, they find the town doctor in bed with a whore. "Doctor! What are you doing here?!" the chief exclaims.

"Ah, well, chief, I'm here to, ah, check the ladies for public safety and sanitation, its not as if I can have them be seen coming around to my office you know. This is a public health service visit!"

And the Chief of Police understands and agrees and tells the doctor to get out and get home and changed before 10AM Church services.

Then the squad burts into the second bedroom, and finds the PRIEST in bed with a whore. "Padre, what are YOU DOING HERE?! Don't you have to start services in just a few hours? How can you be doing this?!"

"Oh, Chief, don't worry, I'm just, ah, ministering ot the needs of the sinners, these whores need redemption and it isn't as if they can be seen coming into church later this morning, is it?"

And once again the Chief understands, tells the men to let the priest out, and they charge across the hall to burst into the thrid bedroom, where find...

"YOUR HONOR!" It's the MAYOR. "Your honor, what are you doing here, in the whorehouse, in bed with a hour, only hours before you have to be in church with your wife?"

"Bed?!" Responds the Mayor. "Whore? Whorehouse? What do you mean?!! In bed with a whore in the whorehouse? Who? What? Where? What' s this?"

Now, that's the definition of a professional politician. Deny EVERYTHING, no matter how obvious it may appear to be. None of it can be true, much less about you. Elliott, on the other hand, never was a politician. Of course, in most states making a date with a whore is not reason for termination. Disbarment, maybe, but that's no problem for a Governor, either.

No doubt he'll "play the gay card" like the ex governor of New Jersey, and say "Well, after all these years I thought heterosexual sex was something I ought to try and my therapist said...."

I just read the relevant text of the indictment on the hookers. (Spitzer has not yer been charged with anything). some interesting points with Spitzer:
1. It all started with an investigation into a bank account with suspicious transactions. That account was Spitzer's and there is innuendo that it is a slush fund and may involve public money. Nothing definitive....YET.
2. While this is being reported as a single incident...he had a CREDIT with the prostitution ring from at least one prior transaction. He also left the "incident" with a credit towards "next time".
3. The hooker in question was brought to Washington from NY via Amtrak at Spitzers request. It could mean that this makes it a federal "crossing state lines for immoral purposes" type indictment.
Not only is Spitzer done as governor...he may be in for some hot nights upstate at the RayBrook pen...maybe he can hang out with some of his Wall Street "friends".

Such a shame that Hillary is already committed elsewhere, she'd have another top office in New York to carpetbag, ergh, RUN for. Well, NY has a long tradition of fine governors....going back to, who was it, Peter Minuet that was an infamous cross-dresser in a day and age when that just wasn't done?

Just as Cam says, that is what the news is reporting. He had a credit and was going to put more money on the account to bring this lady to D.C. He was going to pick up all expenses including the transportation and "mini bar" in addition to the this lady's fee.
