Cruising music???

Can you give me some suggestions for good music to take cruising? The iPod has lots more room on it. I have the requisite Buffett, and I've got Stan Rogers. Who else does maritime flavored music worthy of listening to with rum in hand?

Eileen Quinn - a must have. I'm sure some will say Eric Stone. Some Reggae, but pick your own artist.

Get on itunes and search for 'sailing'. Everyone from Queen to Lionel Ritchie will pop up - sample and buy .

The sounds I prefer when sailing are created by the wind and sea.

Water rushing by the hull and the sounds of air whistling as it moves through the rigging... I generally don't listen to music underway. Often, just hearing a change in the sound can tell you the sails need to be trimmed.

At the end of the day, I'm most likely to listen to Classical.

At anchor, I like to listen to country music... yeah, I know... I'm a sailing redneck... Been called worse things... Jazz, classical, classic rock, are also good... can't stand hip hop, rap, opera, or most heavy metal....

I love the blues, I have since I saw BB King playing on PBS when I was 13. Piano blues can be heaven.

Depending upon the mood and crew, that's typically my choice as well John. Otherwise, I've got a wide range of music in my extensive collection to suit whatever the situation may request - too many to list and so little time.

Generally, I like musicians with an obscure folk/acoustic influence - but light electric rock (not commercial pop) and even New Age, appeals to me as well.

Yes Yes Yes I know the sound of the sea and wind. I'm more focused on those times when we are swinging on the ball or hook and might be socializing a bit. Thanks to all for your thoughts. I will "see" you all after Easter! Our flight for BVI leaves 0800 tomorrow.
