where's the outrage now?

To all of you more conservative folks who got all bent out of shape when Obama said he would go after terrorists if they could be found in Pakistan: Is it only when a Dem says he"ll do it that you get upset? Because your own guy in the White House has done exactly what Obama said he would do - He bombed a compound in Pakistan where (so it seems) they had info some bad guys were hiding:

"Missiles that witnesses say came from an unmanned drone flattened a suspected militant safehouse Sunday in Pakistan's tribal area along the Afghan border. State television said the strike killed about 20 people.

Witnesses said a drone dropped seven missiles on the sprawling, mud-brick compound about three miles outside Wana, the main town in South Waziristan. Only U.S.-led coalition forces in Afghanistan are known to operate unmanned drones in the region, and they have launched attacks over the Pakistani border before."

If you are even a little bit consistent you either have to condemn this attack or admit that Obama was entirely reasonable in saying he would do the same. Otherwise you are just picking on Dems for what any of us would do if given the chance.

As for me, I applaud it. If they know where some bad guys are who helped with 9/11 I say blow them up immediately. If the Pakistanis dont like it they should have dealt with it themselves first. If they dont then we will. I am glad to see Bush taking good advice from Obama!!

Um, because this attack was a coordinated attack with permission, not a unilateral attack?

What OB said is he'd do it unilaterally - that's wherein lies the objection. One does not attack allies, one attacks the enemies of allies with permission and coordination.
You are of course aware Sck that this was the point - we made in the other thread - Obama lacks the experience and statemanship to understand the difference, at least insofar as to this example.

Quit being sensationalist and assine.

Good response, Chuck. I'm glad that someone is willing to answer the same questions, over and over again. (g) It makes one think that there was a lack of attention or understanding the first few times around.

I will admit that for a while there I was a little nervous about the Democrats possibly having a chance in the next election. I am not so nervous now...it really doesn't matter which of those two they run.

Sure he said he would do it unilaterally if the Pakistanis wouldnt cooperate. Are you saying you wouldnt? Come on now - ANY of us would pull the trigger on Osama and given the widespread dislike for the USA among many in Pakistan (including their intelligence services) it would probably be BETTER not to tell them first.

Sensationalistically and asininely yours!

Oh and the whole point is that in bombing al Qaeda we are NOT attacking an ally. We are attacking an enemy trying to get sanctuary on an "ally's" soil.

I put that word in quotes because they arent much of an ally if they are harboring Osama and have an agreement with the tribal leaders of the region to leave them alone.

Unfortunately we get the same thing out of our elected officials too, sensationalism and out right incomplete and false statements over and over again. I begin to think the underlying methodology is to simply wear down anyone who opposes them so that eventually an apathetic populace let's them have their way.

Witness the democratic congress STILL doing the 'the tax cut caused the deficit' dance just now. The tax cut enables economic growth, the deficit was caused and is being caused by too much spending; spending being done on the great social levellers, 'here let me help you' plans (perscription drugs at 55 billion a year is 1/4 of the deficit for example ) that they - the democratic party have and continue to foist off onto anyone who works for a living and makes a buck or two more than absolutely must have.

No SCK, I would not bomb or attack Al Q or Osama on another countries soveriegn terrority without permission. I would lobby with the international community and get permission. I would finger point and ostracise that nation in the community of nations until I got the deed done or the permission needed.
I'm not Bill Clinton - I don't send cruise missles into Yemen blowing up drug factories thinking they are WMD factories.
If I were in the position I'd do it right. I'd send in one Texas Ranger on vacation and take them out with a bullet to the brain and a note pinned to his chest with a bill for the bullet. I'm not in the position to do that because I don't run for office - what I would do doesn't matter, what the president of my country does matters. I expect him/her to behave as a statesman, not a lone ranger.

I think we are not in Pakistan just like we were not in Laos and Cambodia. Obama has nothing to do with it! History will tell us.
