On the phone with Sailhog

Yep...yesterday I spend a good hour on the phone with Sailhog...he is a writer, a real writer, not a person that wrote in a computer is trying to get published...he has published 3 or 4 books and whatever pays him...as he told me...

What an impressive person, knowledgeable, kind polite and in touch with reality, so far away from his Sailnet persona that one has problems believeing it…

D…it was a pleasure having done that…I really enjoyed…have included Hilton Island in my plans.

Other people here I entertain phone conversations with, and are wonderful people, friends if I may…

1)Sailortjk, (well I call him 3 or 4 times a day…a true nice guy..)
2)Sailingdog, not only we speak frequently, but he is my man to buy stuff in the US…like my foot rest fasteners, directly from NASA. He has even bought books Fred asked for, what a guy.
3)Sailaway21…this is one funny SOB…he is not so hard to understand when he talks…unless he is taking a leak, like he did yesterday while on the phone with me…I passed the phone to a guy here while he did that…eheheheh.
4) Camaraderie…I never come in or leave without checking with my good buddy Geo…he is what he is..no BS…and always there for me when I need…he calls me Kiddo…ehehehehe I like that
5) Teshannon…I had a pleasure talking to this senior…a real man, a gentleman…I was amazed how kind he is…
6) T34C..we have spoken many times too, and he is one nice guy…its one of those guys that transmits honesty…you know

7) Charlie, aka Werebeagle…we have become friends, we meet more than we speak on the phone…a true genuine down to the Earth guy…by the way…he’ll fix your roof in the Colorado area. (shameless plug)

8) BF, the carzy fireman from SF…we have a lot in common…amazing…he has always been there for me…what a guy.

9) Tommyt…well we are friends now, and he is coming back fopr more…so …no news…a very good sailor I respect a lot
10) Mark Valiente…he is THE friend here…we speak a lot, we discuss things and we laugh a lot…he seems to admire Fred beyond my understanding…he has seen things in my sons I have not noticed, a very, very knowledgeable sailor whom I learnt to respect and admire..If I crossed the Atlantic..I would want him there…to keep me at check…he reads and digests sailing books like no one I ever seen
11) Sailigfool, well Tom was the only one that took me sailing in the US in his wonderful CS36…I will never forget him and his dark humor…I loved the mustard sandwiches and the Boston rain, Tom..
12) Joel...well he's in my Country having fun now...enough said
13) Xort, what a guy...he is looking for a boat...a nice guy indeed..I enjoyed once a long atlk with him..
14) Max-On, well he heled a lot when I was robbed, and I have invited him over..enough said, bvesides the man own a Dehler...that makes him a smart Lawyer..if that is possible...
15 ChucklesR, we spoke briefly ion a problem he had I can't remember what it was...he was a quiet reserved person..I enjoyed him also

Finally but not least, probably the nicest guy I have ever met inb my whole life, CD...a man in men...also the most simple and naïve, of them all, and that's his charm....

I have not enumerated you guys in my order of preference, I shuffled you all, so you are all my favorite and true friends here…thanks guys….

Alex

Thanks Alex, that was nice. I am at home dripping snot all over my keyboard as I am sick, and on vacation too. The first half of vacation was spent in Phoenix visiting my parents and brother. We took the kids to spring training baseball and to many parks. The second half of vacation will be spent trying to clear mucus out of my head. My mom never gets sick, but this time she was sick and she gave it to my son and I. The nerve of her, after all shes done for me, thats how she repays me!

What surprised me, talking to Sailhog, was his lack of an accent. I thought he was from the south, but he is from the west, so he sounds like me.

I am not much of a phone person, or I would do more of it. Ironically, based on my time here, I prefer to talk in person. In Chicago, I had a great time with Sway, TJK, T34C, the Rev, CKD, and Sailorman6. And here in SF, its been great to get to know Simon and Keelhaulin. (I feel like I am forgetting someone?)

For those of you that haven't, I would highly recommend meeting as many people as you can from this site, the wealth of knowledge, networking, and just plain friendship is great.

Personally, I am afraid to go sail with CD. I don't think there is enough storage on his Catalina for all the Jack Daniels we would go through.

As for you G. Your relationship with your son is what I consider your greatest quality.

I think the Nyquil is wearing off, back to bed for me.

Thanks Alex. It is always a true pleasure to talk to you. I look forward to meeting in person one day. I am a little unsure of your assesment of some of those other guys though.

I was buying into it until I read you thought I was a quiet and reserved, then I knew you were being optimistic.

(Polar plot explanation)

Thanks

It's OK Cam...in Portugal "camaraderie" means a man with erectile disfunction that buys a 2 stick boat to compensate for 10 years with a large lack of sex....more or less..

Also...sometimes, after seating in the toilet, and evacuate...we also refer to the cylindrical brownish fecal material as a "Boa Camaraderie".....

I have to say, I really enjoy talking to you. You've got class which is hard to come by these days. Hope to meet up with you in Philly soon.
