Anti-antihomophobia in Britain

Multiculturalism-chapter 132

It seems that the imperative of being sensitive to our latent homophobia has run up against the constraints of religion within the British Isles. Calm down, it's not those pesky Christians channeling Jerry Falwell; they and their morality were vanquished by the forces of tolerance long ago.

In the interst of bending over backwards to make the portion of it's populace most assosciated with railway destruction comfortable the Brits have found that instructional material suitable for Christians, such as Heather has two Mommy's, may not be the type of thing with which to imbue your budding jihadist. Homo-ed is out.

I'm sure you can draw your own conclusions on this matter but it does seem passing ironic that the birthplace of the Magna Carta should find the pleas of Christians dissuasive while observing with great respect that religion of peace, Islam. Of course there is that nasty little detail; while there is little chance that the most fervent of Christians will take to bombing fellow British citizens there is the faint hope that appeasement, most any appeasement, might be sufficient to dissuade young Mohammed from making his grievences known via the medium of C-4 explosives. The past track record is apparently irrelevant.

The forces of tolerance continue to strive for coherence. Details below.

Yeah, I too read that article this morning. That should make the human rights types heads explode (oops, sorry for the pun).

You will find this enlightening regarding Canada's infamous human rights thugs:

I'd say that was unbelievable but then I'm reminded that the definiton of the word means something that the human mind is incapable of grasping as real. Unfortunately believable might better describe the appointment. I was under the apparently mistaken impression that Canada's Human Right's Commisions would be a premier job for an investigator and draw from the most qualified talent pool.

The major trouble with multi-culturalism is that it subsumes virtue to tolerance. Regardless of culture, we should only tolerate virtuous behavior. And how do we assign virtue to behavior? Well, that would be a question solved by reference to our culture. But then, if we cannot make any value judgements regarding culture, specifically as our's relates to others, we're incapable of defining virtue. So we end up with a culture and a morality that is strictly situational, kind of like the flavour of the week.

I'm not sure what the outrage is, that they were teaching this to 5 year olds, or that 30-50 parents protested it?
I'd be outraged that hundreds, hell every parent didn't protest it. Those that did protest it, I applaud.
Teaching a 5 year old about homosexuality is just grossly outside the permission I give for the teaching of my children. I permit the teaching of facts, science, reading, writing and arithmetic. They could have at least waited until a child understands what sex is before teaching them to accept choices in sexual relationships.

Social issues are my realm to teach to my children. All of them.

It is time to take back our (okay this is British, but ya'll get the point) school system and our children's minds. Academics take too much liberty, it's become a bad word in my mouth.

Chuck,
Do you think that there have not been protests in the past by Christian parents whose morality has been offended? Their concerns were no doubt dealt with in the manner most all Christian concerns are now in western culture; ignored as part of the religious right's intolerance.

But a Muslim complains-hey we've got a serious issue of our cultural intolerance that must be remedied post haste.

Hold hands and tonsil-polish at the age of 5 there boys.
Apparently it does you no harm.

Two kids, age 5 are walking home from school.

One says to the other... "My teacher was teaching me about gay rights, and the intimate details of hetero and homosexual relationships today and that bad boy Tommy Tompkins pushed me against the radiator right at the end of the lesson!"

The other kid says... "What's a radiator?".

Now I get the point you were making - and understand and support it. Sometimes you loose me with prose; I'm a hill billy too my toes.

Homophobia, by my definition (and I am Webster), is a clinical fear of one's self. The mass media has distorted this definition beyond a phobia of homosexuals to apply to anybody who doesn't like homosexuality. Phobia describes a clinical fear, not a taste or a preference. Furthermore, gay means happy-go-lucky or happy, not homosexual. And you might be wondering if I support homosexual marriage. The answer is, of course! (as long as both girls are hot.)
