Reading the NYT accounts one might think that the battle within Basra and the flare-ups in Baghdad were more signs of the terminal weakness of Al-Maliki and the Iraqi government. Reality is that the Iraqi army kicked some Sadr ass and he was forced to sue for peace, yet again.
