You might remember this letter when you read how despised Americans are throughout the world.

It reads like propagandist ********, has several factual errors that make it of doubtful provinence and does nto read like an aussie would write home... It also seems more than a trifle redundent.

But whatever feeds your dellusions of adequacy, I guess..

I must have missed those errors in fact, Sasha. Perhaps you'd assist this inadequate reader in pointing them out.

I think that it's also offered as just one soldier's perspective from on the ground. Many times we have preconceived notions of peoples and places and there is no greater joy than finding we were naively mistaken. I particularly liked the part about coming to the US and hopping on some motorcycles, that does lend authenticity to the letter in my view.

Sailaway, they are not despised here. What is it with this stupid Anti-American ticket? What the f**K is gained with this bile? More divisions? More anti-Americanism?

Cambridgeshire has a US 8th Army Air Force cemetry, all very young then, and all very dead, and all still here, and I am proud of them.

You don't seem to me the type of American would fight for anthing American never mind non-American, like my freedom here in the UK.

The other day I was on Loch Ness, and an American fighter-bomber came rolling past, at American risk, and American funded, and I was glad to see it here, nay, proud to see that white star on the fuselage. When things go wrong, you'd damn well better have an American around, because your f****d if you rely on anybody else.

Talk about sailing or something, and keep this anti-American bile to yourself.
